This is the problem right here! Because this stance doesn't come from Pedophiles. It comes from people condemning pedophiles. "Oh they don't want to change they like being pedophiles they think they're normal"
NO what they're describing are child molesters. There are a LOT of pedophiles who would love to be able to go to a shrink and say, "Please help me I don't want these urges help me get rid of them" the thing is the instant that they do in most countries they're then reported to the police.
Because they've now expressed a desire to harm themselves or others bringing them under mandatory reporting laws. Any pedophile seeking treatment is then treated as a child molester. As if they've already committed crimes.
I know this because I was a victim as a kid and I've spent years using the anonymity of the internet to talk to people and I've spoken to pedophiles that would love to get help that have no option but to self treat. Because if they try to get help it will ruin their lives and potentially lead to their own death.
Criminals however who willfully commit crimes because they only care about themselves don't care. Drugs, sex trafficking, etc they will all justify themselves.
But lumping all of them together and deciding anyone that has the desire to commit a crime is the same as one who has committed a crime is the easiest way to ensure the crime continues as no one will ever seek help to avoid the crime in the first place.
