  • Putin Signs Two New Laws

The first is a "Gay Propoganda Ban" that sets fines for those who, well, do anything that might be considered "propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations" in front of minors, with "nontraditional" meaning "anything that doesn't lead to procreation." This apparently includes online activities and applies to foreigners and the press as well. Some speculate that it could be taken as far as just wearing a rainbow in public. There is also a fine for claiming that homosexual relationships are equitable with heterosexual relationships.

The second I'm going to paraphrase as a "don't taunt the religious" law. This one sets jail time at up to three years for offending religious people, with the harshest penalties for those who do so in places of worship.

Faith is about what you do. It's about aspiring to be better and nobler and kinder than you are. It's about making sacrifices for the good of others. - Dresden

Russia doesn't exactly have a history of religious tolerance.

I wouldn't be surprised if the "don't offend the religious" law isn't enforced when it comes to Jews and other religious minorities.
Good news! Your insurance company says they'll cover you. Unfortunately, they also say it will be with dirt.
