I was just thinking about bits of cultures that I, as a member of a different culture, will never understand, so I thought I'd start a thread where you can post facets of cultures you don't understand, and maybe have someone from that culture explain them.
My first one is, quite simply, Americans and guns. I don't really want an explanation of this, as I've read so, so many threads about gun control and it seems to boil down to "I'm an American, so I like guns". Yes, I know about the 2nd Amendment and the Civil War and all of that jazz, but it really just does come down to "Americans like guns", and I, as a Canadian, just... Do not get it. I have never met a Canadian who is half as passionate as the average American when it comes to guns. It boggles my mind.
I don't really mean for this to turn into a bashing thread either. I don't mean that Americans liking guns is necessarily a bad thing, but it's just something that confuses me.
What about you guys?
