That's just ruined my opinion of the song, because now I know what the singer was really thinking when he sang it.

If he's such a perfectionist, then why doesn't he try to perfect his horrid, horrid singing voice? He sounds like a cross between a mosquito and a dentist drill.
Guns and Roses writes and plays some pretty good songs. I just wish they had someone better singing them.

I know this isn't entirely their fault, but I also get annoyed at how people are always like "GnR is the most badassest band ever! They've got the heaviest evilest music ever!" Yeah which song is that? Paradise City? Sweet Child o Mine? Yeah, real badass music there.
People do the same thing to AC/DC. I love AC/DC, but they're like "This is the ultimate heavy metal band!!!! THE DARKEST AND EVILEST SONS OF SATAN! THE SUPER HEAVIEST DEATH METAL ACT EVER!"
Ok, sorry for OT rant.

In any case, it doesn't matter as far as the fanbase goes; he's committed the terrible crime of not being Slash. For a good example of the "He's not *fill in name here* so he sucks," look at Blaze Bayley. Guy had a great singing voice, but cuz he wasn't Bruce Dickinson; he was reviled mercilessly."Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."

Another good recent example of people not being able to separate the artist from the art was "American Idol" final for Season 8.
