More like Gary Glitter. I believe there's been a drop off in his fanbase, tho.

That's just ruined my opinion of the song, because now I know what the singer was really thinking when he sang it.
Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" is about Caroline Kennedy, who was 11 at the time the song was written. Makes some of the lines look a little bit creepy in that context.

And sometimes someone is just so obnoxious its hard to like anything that is even remotely associated with them. Like Axl Rose.

People over exaggerate how obnoxious Axl Rose is. He's just a perfectionist.

If he's such a perfectionist, then why doesn't he try to perfect his horrid, horrid singing voice? He sounds like a cross between a mosquito and a dentist drill.

Guns and Roses writes and plays some pretty good songs. I just wish they had someone better singing them.

I know this isn't entirely their fault, but I also get annoyed at how people are always like "GnR is the most badassest band ever! They've got the heaviest evilest music ever!" Yeah which song is that? Paradise City? Sweet Child o Mine? Yeah, real badass music there.

People do the same thing to AC/DC. I love AC/DC, but they're like "This is the ultimate heavy metal band!!!! THE DARKEST AND EVILEST SONS OF SATAN! THE SUPER HEAVIEST DEATH METAL ACT EVER!"

              Ok, sorry for OT rant.

His singing voice, for his style, is fine. Now he's older and can't hit all the same notes but in his prime nobody could sing like Axl.

If that's the sound he wants, he does it well.

Axl is a pussy cat compared to Sebastian Bach from Skid Row. Jeez that guy is an arsehole. XD But I love his singing voice.

Oh, man, Bach has one of the best screechy voices in all of hair metal. Our 'class song' was "I Remember You." Awesome As far as I'm concerned, there is no Guns'n'Roses without Slash. Yes, Axl Rose is a great singer and songwriter, but Slash developed their sound. You can't just replace him with a guy who has a KFC bucket on his head.

Buckethead can play rings around Slash. He was the best part about Chinese Democracy. Don't let the appearance fool you, Buckethead takes his craft seriously. He also can use nun-chucks and do the robot.

Meh. Sorry, I just can't go with it. I listened to a bit of Chinese Democracy and didn't like it at all. *shrug* I'll just listen to Appetite for Destruction.

In any case, it doesn't matter as far as the fanbase goes; he's committed the terrible crime of not being Slash. For a good example of the "He's not *fill in name here* so he sucks," look at Blaze Bayley. Guy had a great singing voice, but cuz he wasn't Bruce Dickinson; he was reviled mercilessly.

Another good recent example of people not being able to separate the artist from the art was "American Idol" final for Season 8.

Hey, for me INXS ceased to be in 1997. I don't care who's singing with them, they're not Michael Hutchence.

Lol. XD I'm the same as far as Kiss is concerned; I much prefer Eric Carr and Singer to Peter Criss. Hell, a toddler banging on a saucepan could drum better than Peter Criss. XD
