I have been in many a upper class restaurant and seen people bring young ones in... it is a shame. I can understand say children over 12ish as they can follow directions. I was going to fancy places at 12 because I knew what was expected of me. How ever I would not think of dragging a 7mo old along.

I think if a parent wants to bring a kid someplace thats up to the parent. theres no reason to limit what they feel their kid can handle. A kids behavior is a seperate issue

Kids, ugh...the "no names" mod thread makes me grind my teeth in rage. I. Loathe. Children.

If I go to Mickey D's or even the game store, I realize I'm essentially forfeiting my adult right to be free from shrieking, running, crying, and all else by going to a place that's considered a kid place. Their place, their norms.

But some of the things I've read from others....the BAR?! I don't drink, so I've never seen this firsthand, but seriously...a BAR?! Raunchy novelty stores??! I'm guessing these same parents would scream bloody murder if their kids used a curse word or talked about one of the items in a store like that.

All said, I think I'd be more fond of kids, if more parents had a lick of sense, and made some effort TO PARENT. If I had EVER behaved like some of the stuff I see, I would have been dragged out of the store and not allowed back in public til I was old enough to drive myself there. I just don't GET it....

Yes, bars. They do go there with their kids. Now, if it's a sports bar type place with a restaurant like Applebees, I will only throw a fit if there is a baby up by the bar while a game is on or something. I expect kids to be at Applebees in general. But kids at taverns? Oh. Fuck. No.

One thing that bugs me is when people take their children to rock concerts. Before anyone jumps on me, I don't mind a bit when the child is clearly into the music and has been supplied with earplugs, and is someplace out the way where the child isn't going to be pushed and jostled. But taking an earplugless child into the mosh pit? Are you serious? Way to ruin your child's hearing and ensure that they stand a good chance of being pushed over and injured!

While small children shouldn't be at concerts anyways, people who form mosh pits don't ever take into consideration those who go to concerts for music and to not be a jack ass and will form them around those who don't want to be part of it. Its a possibility the mosh pit was formed after the parent and the kid waited to get to where they were standing and are reluctant to let good spots go because some doofus wants to punch people instead of act like a decent human.

Or maybe parents could not take their 3 year old to a Metallica concert. Now, if it's a teenager and an age appropriate band...then sure. 12 year old at a Taylor Swift concert? That's fine, although I find your choice of music horrendous. Of course, after seeing unattended 14 year olds at a Dresden Dolls concert (which went to almost 2 am), I swore to myself I would only go to age-restricted shows in the future.

When I went to see Nickelback, there were a fair number of twelve year olds in the audience with their parents. There also wasn't a mosh pit, as such.

When I went to see Slipknot/Slayer, there were a few kids there, and most of the parents had the sense not to stand right at the front, which is where the mosh pit always is. It never forms at the back or to the side, so if you stand at the front with your child, you are going to be in the thick of it.

Remember I said "most"? This stupid bitch took her kid with her into the pit; and ended up having to be taken out of there by security guards to prevent the child being crushed to death. The kid apparently was only there cuz Mommy Dearest couldn't be bothered getting a sitter.

Have you ever actually been to that type of concert? I've been to plenty, and I have yet to see anyone try to form a pit around unwilling people, or drag them into it. Sure, it looks like they're trying to kill each other, but it's not like that at all. And if you fall, which will happen sooner or later, you'll find several pairs of hands reaching out to help you up.

I've been to plenty of concerts where the pit forms around the unwilling. Like was said it always forms up front, where people who actually go to concerts for the music stand . The mosh pit should be in the back, or preferbly out in the parking lot. Its not like it matters who is even performing as long as it is loud and fast. They could just turn a car radio on to a rock station and mosh away from the people who actually like the artist.
