I love cemeteries....going for "Yard Walks" is how my buddies and I dealt with stress at college. Closest thing to a nature trail.

There was one lovely 'yard near the school....my favorite gravestone was so worn that you couldn't read the name...but it was of a dead dove on tree stump. There was something just simple about it I liked...I left the "Dove" stones when I visited.

Also, a local composer and his wife were buried there, so when I had a concert I'd visit them a few hours beforehand.

I've always liked walking thru graveyards; it's so peaceful. Back when I was a kid, I used to pick bunches of wildflowers and put them on the graves of people who didn't have flowers there.

There is a pioneer cemetary not too far from where I live that's really cool and I've spent time walking around it. Plus there are other cemetaries in town I want to check out.

My own contribution to this thread

My mom thinks I'm morbid. Plus, Mr. Rum does (to an extent).

Here are some of my favorite "morbid" sites:

              1. Find a Death - a site with stories of how the stars lived & died

              2. Find a Grave - a site that lists graves by location, claim to fame and date (for example: Who died on October 19 in any year?)

              3. Beneath Los Angeles - a site dedicated to those who are "Famous, Infamous, or Just Plain Dead" in the Los Angeles area

              4. Crime Magazine - An Encyclopedia of Crime - it also, somewhere on the site - has a pictures of those who were electrocuted via the Death Penalty in the U.S. and how it can go wrong

I have been to Crime Library. I like that one too.

              Also, there is:

              The Asylum Electica

It's run by a woman who goes by the name "The Countess DeSpair". She does a Morbid Fact of the Day (aka Morbid Fact Du Jour), but it's not updated continuously. There are some other parts of the website that might not sit well with those of delicate stomaches (the malady of the month, pictures of dead people/accidents/etc.). Peruse this at your own risk. I love the Morbid Fact of the Day.
Oh Holy Trinity, the Goddess Caffeine'Na, the Great Cowthulhu, & The Doctor, Who Art in Tardis, give me strength. Moo. Moo. Java. Timey Wimey

I'm morbid too. I love reading true crime books and watch all the true crime shows on TV. I have also had a fascination with dead things my whole life. Even as a young girl I'd make my mom turn around to go look at dead animals on the road. I'm fascinated by them.

I'm going to go out on a limb here.....don't shoot me Some of you might appreciate this movie as much as I do.....it's called Kissed. To see the details go here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116783/

It's about a touchy subject but it's done so well that I'm just in love with this movie.

I've never been called morbid, but some people might think I am. I really like horror movies, and I do enjoy documentaries about true crime, though I don't watch them very often. I really liked the show "Unsolved Mysteries" back when it was on. I still watch it on Youtube sometimes. I also like walking through cemeteries, especially small ones out in the country. Behind the church my family went to when I was a little kid was a cemetery, and it had a lot of really old graves in it. Some of them were from the 1800s. I always thought it was cool to look at those. It's actually kind of paradoxical that I like walking through cemeteries, too, because at the same time, I sometimes see them as wastes of land. Oh well. Most people have contradictory beliefs. I guess I'm entitled to a few.

Once again, the accusation rears its ugly head... and amuses me at the same time. I'm currently writing a dramatised version of the Jack the Ripper murders, and apparently, my description of the murders is too graphic. Duh? We're not talking about a unicorn that shits rainbows, we're talking about a guy who rips women's guts out. XD I've got a warning on dA about the content of the chapters so far, so it's your own fault really if you ignore it and carry on reading despite said warning.

I also managed to place a love story in Pripyat, in a different story. Yes, strange setting, but it works.

I'm sure that people have called me morbid before, too, because of some of the things that I'm interested in. I used to read Crime Library all the time years back. I don't know why I haven't checked it out in a while... I should remedy that. I also love walking through cemetaries. My mom does, also. My dad always thought we were weird when we would go on vacation and see a really neat-looking cemetary and just have to stop and wander around. When I got my senior pictures done in high school, my outdoor shots were taken in a local cemetary that has gorgeous landscaping. My classmates thought I was twisted

I'm also fascinated by ancient and medieval torture devices. I love reading up on them and how they were used and what acts were committed to have a person wind up dying in such brutal ways. I remember years ago when I was a young teen or preteen and my parents took me to Medieval Times. I talked them into buying tickets for the Dungeon. It was awesome wandering around that room looking at all those replicas of the devices. A bit freaky, but still amazing.

None of the 'morbid' things interest me because I want to go out and recreate them or anything. I'm simply intrigued by the history in the case of the torture devices and cemetaries, and the psychology in the case of serial killers and true crime. I find nothing at all wrong with that

When you do, post the pictures on CS.com.

I found a brilliant documentary on the wildlife in the dead zone on youtube; did you know there are giant catfish living in the river there, as well as rare wild horses living in the abandoned farmland?
