Obviously the COVID-19 is a Big Deal right now. I responded to an online post with some kind of comment to the effect of "Everything quiet here; nearly everything is closed" etc. etc.
Response by somebody: "OMG is [my country] not taking this seriously?"
This person currently lives in a nice little island with very tough restrictions, which are good.
This person has shown in the past that she lives a very comfortable life and has little empathy for those who do not.
This person is also a U.S. citizen.
I had a VERY hard time not replying with "Have you seen what YOUR country is NOT doing right now???" (I didn't respond at all.)
My country's response is not perfect, by any means. But goddammit ...
Anyway, my apologies to Americans here. I know many Americans are not happy with the situation there and it was only this particular one -- partly because of past history and her general smugness -- that I wanted to slap into the next time zone. I just wanted to vent and this seemed to be the place to do it.
I foresee an unfriending coming up in the very near future.
