Oddly, I've found it the other way around when hunting for cases ( for my own PC that is ) between Newegg and NCIX, and then Newegg wanted to *fist* me for shipping. Twice as much for twice as long. How did you get an extra $200 on that list? NCIX has all of that stuff for around the same give or take. Plus you can deal hunt the weekly sales for good scores.

Um....I added all the exact same things to my cart at Newegg and it comes out to more than that before shipping. Are you sure you didn't miss something in your cart?

Edit 1: Ok looks like *I* missed something.

Edit 2: Nope, still costs more than what you got. <head scratch>

Edit 3: Ah, Newegg is gouging Canadian customers out the *ass*. Niiiice guys. Your order would cost me $460 US even before the $60 in shipping.

AH, I guess it comes down to location location location. Good to know if I'm in Canada newegg is not the way to go, also probably weird shit with exchange rates too. I'm guessing NCIX is the Canadian newegg. But still, I hope I can get a decent build. I'm a little bit sad it costs more to go micro ATX as I got one in the basement just sitting there, guess it gives me a reason to recap the board and setup a router running 2.4GHZ processor.

        Right, swap the 4650 for:

SAPPHIRE 100322L Radeon HD 6450 1GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

That's at least the current generation Radeon card, running on DDR3 ( not DDR2 <spit> ). It's only $7 more anyhow.

I also wouldn't trust Biostar for a mobo myself. Get yourself a barebone Gigabyte, MSI or ASUS board. Price is around the same so you may as well get a solid brand name.

Yeah, thats the problem, Newegg is charging Canadians on the exchange rate from 5 years ago apparently. Canadian dollar is stronger than the US dollar now, but they're still charging like its weaker by a large margin.

Gah, that case looks like a hotbox too now that I look. You might want to spend the extra $20 and grab a Thermaltake for the abundance of extra fan options. Especially if you've had problems in the summer before. That Apec case is just a little oven with a fan on the back.

Biostar is kind of a second tier. Ok, but not great. Good if you can't afford anything else. But seeing as the prices are relatively the same at the moment no point in going with them. I've run Gigabyte boards for, oh lord, maybe 7 or 8 years now? Never had the slightest problem with them. Hell, my old Gigabyte board when I upgraded from it I just slapped it into my mom's computer. So its still running strong at the 7 year mark.

Finally swapped to an MSI for Crossfire in a bundle deal from NCIX. I couldn't say no to a 955 Black Edition + Crossfire mobo for $170 off including the rebate. ><

Well, we quickly tossed the build together with budget in mind. I'm looking at a
                  GIGABYTE GA-870A-USB3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Looks like same or similar chipset as biostar board, but A LOT of extra USB ports which I like.

.... and in the pictures I see it has an 8pin power connector, which I don't see it listing, but the power supply I have is capable of supporting that, so it win win

Can't really go wrong with the brandname, even their barebone boards are top quality. That case is begging for summer overheating though I think. I use an Antec 300 case myself, grabbed it because it was cheap ( more $ for my GPU/CPU budget >.> ) ended up being quite servicable the last 4 years or so ( and great with all the fan options ). Gonna go up to a Phantom or a white 600T now though so I have some cable management and a cpu backplate cut out.

Well, I guess what would a better case cost.... I was kind of like the $20 budget wise, I really don't need a lot of bells and whistles

Was checking my e-mail guess there a promo code, wondering if a 6MB L3 Cache is worth $10 extra and lossing .2GHz in a quad core.
                        AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor

                        Also, got to check out
Thermaltake V3 Black Edition VL80001W2Z ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
$30 after mail in rebate and promo code.

EDIT: Nevermind, it has the PSU on the bottom..... where antec put the fan in this model. Sadly the rest of the case was sounding good. And I notice the same for the antec 300.
Gravekeeper, is your power supply flush to the bottom of your case or is there a gap. Because sadly it sounds like I might have to go with a top mounted unit. that costs a lot more.

Edit2: Seems to be a none issue found fourm where people used "TX650W" that made the same way in the case. actually multiple people with no issue, and that thermal take DOES have a vent on bottom once I went to their website I saw it, and some stand offs on it. looks like the same one that gravekeeper pointed out also the one I found with promo code.

The difference is fairly minimal to be honest. I'm quite pleased with my own new Phenom though I must say.

Mine is pretty much flush to the bottom. It shouldn't make a difference though, just flip your PSU over. Mine is technically upside down. As long as the intake fan is pointed inside the case it's fine. Unless the PSU is specifically top mount, which would be pretty rare?

Big thing with the Antec and the Thermaltake is front, side and top fan mountings. Which will really help in the summer. Before I got AC my old Q9550 was a space heater onto itself and would overheat in the peak of summer because there wasn't much air flow through my bedroom. Ended up added a couple fans to the front, side and top. Did the trick till I got A/C.

Now I've swapped most of them down to quieter low vibration fans. Coupled with water cooling, keeps er pretty easy on the ears.

Oh, a Corsair? No problem at all, they exhaust out the back of the case. Just flip it over so the intake fan is facing up. Corsairs run pretty cool to begin with. I have one myself in the same product line, so I can testify it works just fine. ;p

well I have an Antec, but it built the same way as the corsair, and since the thermaltake has a vent underneath the power supply, I think i can easily install it the proper direction, if not I can flip it.

I'm comming in at $582 after shipping. less $10 if I do the mail in rebate, lol and I'm down 4GB ram, so probably another $45 for that. (DAMN!!!! last month it had a $15 rebate)

Hrm, the reviews on that board say its the wrong model and Newegg has it listed wrong.

You know if you went back down to a bare bones board in the $50-60, you could shift the extra $40 to the CPU and grab a X4 2 955 Black Edition.
