My dog was fine so was his they just barked and growled. I got bit by my dog cuz I was the only one crazy enough to pull a dog out of a dog fight. Didn't even go to the doctors. I just stopped the bleeding cleaned the wound and applied a bandage.

Then gave my dog a treat for defending our yard.

That corner of the yard also became home to a stack of five cinder blocks. Never had problems with that dog digging his way in again.

I know and I would have lied about how I got the bite if I went to the ER. It wasn't rabies and it wasn't anything my dog did wrong. I picked up my dog from behind he panicked and bit down.

I won't have any animal put down through something that was entirely my fault. I used to work with horses I knew the dangers of approaching an animal from behind and chose to ignore them on the basis I didn't have another solution readily at hand.

If my dog had killed their dog or vice versa both dogs would have been lost. To me the risk was acceptable.

BTW, since I was out of my house for a week, AC had to come get their trap. I was unable to maintain it because I was not home all last week and they need their trap. This is a huge problem for everyone, there simply aren't enough traps for everyone who needs them. However, I went out today and found several large dogs inside my fence right the fuck up on the stairs of my deck outside my back door.

I'm going out tomorrow to drop 160 bucks on my own trap so I don't have a clock ticking. So at this point, I'm pretty much out close to two hundred bucks, plus the fifty I spent on the paintball gun. All because the knuckle dragging rednecks out here can't maintain their dogs. I'm also going to fill in the holes with broken glass and shredded metal. Dirt is not working. Dragging downed trees and large limbs against the bottom of the fence is not working. Try digging through a pit of shrapnel, fuckers.

If I didn't have neighbors within range of my shotgun, this problem would have been solved this morning permanently. I could have shoved the barrel right through the screen of the bedroom window and probably brought most of them down with one or two shots. That's why living with people around you kind of sucks. You can't pull shit like this in a neighborhood.

Any sort of compassion I might have had when this horseshit started is gone. Zip. The Empty Set. At this point, I'm going to do whatever I have to.

The part I was referring to as my fault was where I wouldn't have gotten bit if I didn't pick up my dog that way if say I had waited and gotten the hose or something.

Rebar works wonders and you won't be either sued or have some knuckle-dragging redneck who can't be bothered to take care of his dogs coming over to 'have words' with you over it's injuries. It's just not worth the headache.

True, but I'd have to do an entire fenced acre. It's just not practical.

Though in the cold light of morning, it occured to me that a big roll of barbed wire would be cheaper and easier to clean up. And would probably go a long way.

Actually, I would love it if a knuckle dragging redneck showed up on my front doorstep to have words with me. Because then I'd know who to send Animal Control after. They have a sizable fine they are itching to deliver. And I have some bills I'd like to have words with him about in a small claims court.

Unlike most of these delusional pet owners I'm hearing about, I actually know who's liable for what here. So if one of them comes to talk to me about me supposedly endangering his trespassing and unrestrained animal on my own fenced property, I'm thinking he needs some schooling.

I don't want to steal the thread, but I'm in a pickle.

My parents finally had enough of Baby the cat and her clawing up the house and occasionally spraying the basement door.

They put her outside.

They live on a dead end road on the end of town. There are a few strays and the neighbor across the street has an indoor/outdoor cat.

I'm really hoping no one shoots my cat or does anything to her. She is mostly timid of loud noises and has gone running into the bushes any time she hears a vehicle or people's voices she doesn't recognize, so I doubt she'd be exploring much.

That's really kind of sad for the cat, seeing as how she's not used to being outside. My indoor cat (I used to have a cat and a dog myself) got out once and was totally traumatized. Granted, she was a high strung cat, but sticking an indoor cat outside really isn't the solution.

If they're bent on her being outside, all I can say is make sure she's wearing a collar with your info and registration tags and make sure she's fixed to cut down on wandering. And make sure her shots are up to date. If she gets trapped or picked up off your property, you may have to pay a fine to get her back, but at least you might GET her back.

Had the cats I trapped been wearing ID, Animal Control would have called them to tell them they'd been picked up. Hell, I would have called them myself to make sure they knew.

If she has a collar, make sure it will come off if she gets it caught on something as opposed to choking her. Also, if she's going to be outside, she should be chipped, just in case the collar comes off.

She had a breakaway collar. It disappeared the first few days she was outside.

She had previously lived ouside at our old house for a long time. Although, it's not a great situation....she isn't fixed and hasn't had any type of vaccines.

I don't know what it's like in your area, but in my county if they can identify a roaming animal as yours, and it's able to breed and not vaccinated, you're going to get fined out the ass.

Here, you're not even allowed to have an intact female dog outside when she's in heat. You will get hit with an outrageous fine.

Unless you plan to breed your animal, there's really no excuse to not have it fixed.

Aside from the danger of the animal getting knocked up, you also let her go through heat after heat for no good reason.
