When I got back here, August 3rd, I walked into a bedroom that was 94F (34.4C). I knocked on my neighbor's door and asked him what was up with it. Apparently, the AC broke a full week before I got back. Only my side of my floor doesn't have AC in the entire building. The coolest my room gets at night with the window open (and by open I mean cracked because it won't stay really open) and fans blowing is 84F (28.9C). A week later, I asked the head NCO of my office what was up and he thought it was fixed by now. He emailed the NCO in charge of our whole unit and she said that they were just waiting on the part to get in. That was August 10th.
There's no fucking way it takes 28+ days to order a part, have it shipped, and fix air conditioning. Mail delivers here seven days a week (yes, even Sundays). I'm sure they realize this, but it's the fucking desert and it's over 100F every day. It's hard as hell to sleep and since I don't work until 1:30pm, I sleep until late morning. If one of the passing jets or trucks or explosions or whatever wakes me up, going back to sleep when it's almost 90F is pretty hard. Especially since I'll be sweating a lot.
Oh yes, and my door's handle is broken. You can turn it 360 degrees and it won't open. I have to have my key just to go the bathroom a few doors down instead of just leaving it unlocked. It was a nice surprise a week ago (which they told me it'd be fixed THAT day) to wake up, go to the bathroom, come back and find myself locked out. And I had nothing on but gym shorts and flip flops. It was an awesome walk to the office.
I love living in housing created by whoever will do it for the cheapest amount.
