      But isn't it just maddening when you give someone a very clear disclaimer that they blatantly ignore? "Hey man I'm not sure you want me driving, I don't see real well out of one eye."

      "So what? Go ahead and drive."

      "Ok, but I'm not responsible if I can't see something and hit it."

      "Okie dokie!"

      <Crash>

      "YOU IDIOT WHY DID YOU CRASH MY CAR!?"

        ya but if you know you can't see well enough to drive safely than it is your responsibility to not be driving. plus the driver could have a posted disclaimer (if we go by that train of thought) in his car saying that "whoever is driving is responsible for paying any accident fees" or "if this car crashes it isn't owners fault ever". it doesnt make them right, it just makes them disclaimers.

        i used to see it alot back in second life. people would put disclaimers in their profile that would be trying to exempt them from the terms-of-service of the program. then they whined when they got temp-banned. *eyeroll*

          While I agree that one should not take on something they can't do very well, it's also an even exchange. Once I, of my own free will, offer the responsibility, and you, of your own free will, accept said responsibility, that's that.

          And I would have the option to say "I'm not driving your car if I'm to be held responsible for any crashes." Just like he can say "You're not driving my car if you can't see very well."

          Or "Hey I'm having a party tonight, but if you're allergic to ANY foods then eat at your own risk. I don't have a list of ingredients so either take your chances or don't. Not my problem."

            Somehow I don't think the police are going to agree with you that your friend's insistance that you drive despite being unable to do so safely gives you a free pass for you getting into an accident.

            As for the second, that's just common sense on the part of an allergic person to not eat things that they don't have a list of ingredients for. Honestly, nobody should have to make that disclaimer as it's pretty much the default of life.
