I do like the "nature look", qq. Though I am a firm believer that the best make up is make up that makes you look good without anyone realising you're wearing make up.

Not fond of the excessive "I painted my face this morning-" look nor the even worse "-with a spackle knife" sub type. ;p

Yeah; the "I used a spade to apply my foundation" look does not look good on anyone. O.o
"Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."

I'm lost without a paddle and I'm headed up sh*t creek.

I got one foot on a banana peel and the other in the Twilight Zone.

Oh, the guys who want "the girl next door" type, even though she's most likely got an eating disorder, a drug or drinking problem, and probably has really violent tendencies but it's okay because she loves sports, the outdoors, and doesn't like shopping?

Oh yeah. I remember guys who wanted "that girl". That, or the easy 18 year olds.

I once found out a guy I was dating had chosen me because I was pretty, and he thought it'd make him more popular/fit in better with his friends.
Basically, he wanted a girlfriend, not me. I was a symbol. A 'trophy girlfriend', so to speak. Not that I was putting in the hours of effort it takes to look as good as your average 'trophy wife' does!
I have no objection to the 'trophy spouse/wealthy spouse' deal, as long as both partners are well aware of the deal and happy with it. It's when one is unwitting that it pisses me off.

            Anyway.

I know several geekish types who make a point of caring for their bodies as best they can. Some of those also choose to dress up, but others most commonly dress for their personal comfort.
Some (such as my husband) can be negotiated with: A and I can help him buy clothes he finds comfortable and we find attractive, and he'll happily wear those. He looks a lot better dressed than he did when I married him.
