Its called exploiting and its on the same level as cheating in the gaming community frankly. Its the gaming equivilent of: Did the cashier intend to give me back an extra $50 in change? Nope. Is it stealing if I keep it? Nope.

You're getting something you know you're not suppose to have and justifying it by saying its alright because its someone else's mistake letting you have it. ;p

As for superpowers....I don't think I should be trusted with superpowers. Least not as long as I'm working in the customer service injury.

I would reduce the Earth to ruin inside of a year.

I have to go with you on this one. As soon as I read the headline evil thoughts of destruction started appearing in my head, specifically about that moron that was tailgating me with their brights on last night and that woman who didnt tip me twice in the same night, and another person whos apt I could smell as soon as I walked in the door.

I don't think there is a person alive who could be trusted with super powers. As they say..power corrupts. It would be hard to resist the urge to use any super power worth being called a super power for a persons own gain. If you've worked with 'customers' who here has not wished they had the 'force'? "I find your lack of manners, and inability to read, disturbing."

              Power doesn't really corrupt, though.

There are people, a few, who I would trust not to abuse what powers they might have.

Most of the rest of humanity, I only trust as far as they have oversight, and some not even that much.

I'd definitely abuse the hell out of mine. And I'm okay with that.

Seems like if you're going to have super powers, you can at least use them not to have to have a job you hate.

Or to have enough fun you wouldn't hate it anymore. If you deliver pizzas, teleport. Some would tip better for the speed, perhaps some for the entertainment, and if nothing else you'd get more runs and without the expense of driving. (a bit unfair on your coworkers, though.) Or think not only how useful mind-reading would be for a waitress, but how much you could confuse customers just by leaving the impression that of COURSE they'd already ordered, etc.

Of course, that would wear thin after a while, but you could always find something else to do.

With the whole speak any languages ability, I could totally be a translator for anyone, which would be awesome.

Teleporters could get jobs as couriers. If you could take a person with you, you could potentially get serious need people to the ER so they could be treated, and make the roads safer for everybody.

Mind readers could make awesome counselors. It'd be scary for them to be prosecutors, investigators, or the like. How do you defend your right to privacy with someone like that?

How cool would the ability to make duplicates of anything be? (ie as many as you'd like). Pretty much never want for anything, be able to help people (ie somebody doesn't have enough to eat..bam make them a whole feast out of thin air).

Ability to never age, stay young and beautiful, read minds and manipulate thought, be very fast and strong like a vampire, but without the overly pasty skin and unable to go out in the sun detriment and I'd rather not have to drink blood.

With the sports thing, a thing I wrote involves two characters, Zach and Jin. Zach can control electricity and light, and since the powers deal with fast things, he is naturally speedy, but that's merely a side-effect of his abilities, and is not something he can control. Jin controls water - his power really does help him, allowing him to push through the water in a pool and hold his breath for much, much longer.

Zach wins several medals at the 2040-something olympics in several running events. Jin isn't an athlete (though he's murder at water polo) but he would be a whiz at any swimming event.

Now I had to think about what the IOU would say...I thought that they definitely wouldn't like Jin and his obviously super-human swimming abilities, but there isn't really much they can do about Zach, since his speedyness isn't outside normal parameters and he can't use his power to cheat at all...depends on the politics at the time I reckon.

Oh, and I also have a quote regarding levitation or telekinesis - "Must make the nocturnal slap-and-tickle rather exciting". XD

You... you realize you just described Edward Cullen, right? Just wanted to be clear on that.

Anyway, as for mine... Is "Be a Time Lord" an option? And can I get the accessories (TARDIS, Screwdriver, etc) with that? And I'd basically be using that to go see everything. And then maybe pick up on the Doctor's world-saving hobbies if I'm crazy enough.

But if that's out, I think the "standard" power I'd most like to have would be teleportation. Like in Jumper. Not the best movie, but I did like how the ability worked in it. Applications for that one are near-endless.

I prefer to think of it like this: SUre, it's shitty. But it's not ACTUALLY doing anything wrong, because it still is part of the game's original coding.

How often to people do blatantly SHITTY things to people, but are actually APPLAUDED for it half the time because it happens to be legal? Fuck off, I'm doing my thing too, I say!
