Generally, if you are arguing on the side of positive, you have the heavier burden of proof. If it's about whether or not something exists, the burden of proof is on the person who believes it exists. If it's about whether or not something is effective, the burden of proof is mainly on the person claiming it's effective. If it's about whether or not a whole defense is actively participating in a bounty program, it's on the person who believes the whole defense was in on it to prove that everyone was trying to hurt people and/or donating money towards it or whatever.
Violence has resolved more conflicts than anything else. The contrary opinion that violence doesn't solve anything is merely wishful thinking at its worst. - Starship Troopers

What don't help, is when you do provide a source and people still believe the other. I had that recently with a Facebook group. It involves a ghost photo that was taken with an iPhone. Well, anyone with an iPhone can install that same app and it puts a ghost in the pic. The famous one is of a little girl in a dress. I can show people that it is a fake and they still don't believe me.
Here is a link to check out about the ghost in the story above
