  • Don't Rush Me!

Quick little background: I park on the street as my boyfriend's family's driveway does not have enough room for AAAAAAALL the cars that we have. I live in a tiny town, so there's no issues with paying for parking and an even smaller street, so there is a LOT of room to park if you want to park on the street.

Now, I park semi in front of my house. Some days it's actually in front of and sometimes it's between my house and the neighbor's. My options for leaving for work in the morning are 7:25 (and I get to work at 7:45) or 7:35 (and I get to work at 7:50). If I leave at 7:30, I'm lucky if I get to work by eight. In the morning, there is always this lady in a white SUV who is there idling by the neighbor's house. Every morning. I don't know why she's there as the only kids in the area ride the bus, but it's really none of my business. Most of the time she'll idle in the neighbor's driveway or in front of it.

    This morning was really weird.

I'm parked on the street kind of between my house and the neighbor's and SUV lady is there idling kind of in limbo on the street. I get in my car and she is pulling really, really close to my car and halfway in the street. I realized that she wants my spot. Ooooookay. -looks around at all the empty space on the street-. Weird. I get in my car and check my phone. Oh! It's seven thirty. Definitely not leaving now, especially with hovering SUV right behind me trying to rush me out of my spot. I sit in my car for a bit, fiddle with my phone...then I realized I forgot something inside. Went inside for a bit, read the paper a bit (I can get a lot done in a short period of time). Go back to my car. SUV lady is still idling in the same spot, halfway in the street, nose close to my car. I get in my car, turn the car on, plug in my phone and defog my windows. Finally, SUV lady gives up and backs into the neighbor's driveway.

I finally leave, but jeez. Why on earth does she absolutely need this spot? I was kind of a jerk, but I really don't like being rushed when there is SO much space on the rest of the street to park.

    Weird.

The only time I'll wait for a specific parking spot is if I'm trying to use a fast food outlet's wifi and I know it only picks up from certain areas of the lot. And even then, if those spots are full I'll park elsewhere to get my food and wait, and then move when the good spot opens up.

OCD? Some people *need* to use the same place for their daily rituals. They get uncomfortable if they don't.

      Just a possibility.

Then you're doing her a favor breaking the ritual forcibly.

I don't buy it tho, impatient and entitled jerk is much more likely.
