Kevin Williamson, a theater critic, was kicked out of the show he was reviewing after he threw another patron's cell phone, which she insisted on using during the show and after he repeatedly asked her to stop.

If you are at a theater, either movies or live performance, turn off the damn phone, or at least have it on silent. No one wants to deal with it.

I have to ask: Kudos to the critic for throwing it or for the theater for kicking him out?

The appropriate response to someone failing to turn off their cell is to get management and get them kicked out.
