XP is going to be unsupported by Microsoft in a few months. Tgat diesn't *necessarily* mean that antivirus software won't provide updated definitions files, especially so long as program itself is the current version. (Say, if HyAV 3 is the current version for everything XP and up, so long as version 3 in general is receiving new definitions, there's no reason to block them for copies running on XP.)

Clamwin still supports 98 and NT4. I suspect they'll still support XP at 2020. I also suspect as long as there's hardware it can be shoehorned onto, with custom drivers if need be, there will be diehards who run it.

That's the mark of something that was both innovative and an improvement :-) Even if it's been superseded since.

That's more a mark of people don't like and sometimes fear change.

For some. Others may enjoy the challenge of seeing how far they can go with it, or keep it around on a rarely-used system for nostalgia value, when they're in the mood for 90's software, etc. my "real" computer, the one I always use, is up to date, software-wise. But if I'm ever in the mood, I have older ones around with System 7.5, MacOS 9, Tiger, and Leopard. The last one does daily work as a DVR, while the rest only get turned on once a year or so, but I like having them around. Likewise, I'll probably keep XP, and just not use it online once it becomes unsafe.
