  • I think in this election we may have to vote for ourselves!

If this were most any other election, you'd have a liberal leaning candidate on the D's side and a conservative leaning candidate on the R's side. And in most cases, one will probably agree with/give you at least a good chunk of what you'd like in your POTUS, and thus that's your guy/gal. Now of course I'm not gonna support liberal Democrat Hilary and certainly not super liberal Socialist Bernie...in any event any candidate who is openly pro-abortion is an automatic deal breaker anyway.

As for Trump, even if I can dismiss the whole "he's racist and hates immigrants" thing as the usual crying wolf (when will the media learn that illegal immigrants =/= immigrants in general?) the fact of the matter is that well, you know how Bush supporters ridiculed Kerry in 2004 for being a flip flopper (as well when he tried to call himself "John F. Kerry" like he thought he was the next Kennedy or something... ), well, maybe it's just me but Trump has just been all over the map on the issues in the past several years. No, I'm not gonna be one of those people (like my wife in 2008 I'm sorry to say) who think it's the end of the world if your guy doesn't win...if Trump/Hilary/Bernie or whoever becomes POTUS life will pretty much go on as usual. But I just plain don't see any appeal in Trump at all. Yes I know his claim to fame is being a business tycoon and I know his supporters are hoping he can make some miraclous economic turn around...but even IF that ending up being the case, that is only one part of being POTUS, there's still things like domestic/foreign policy/commander-in-chief stuff and so on too.

Then again we're in KY, which is never anywhere close to a swing state so our votes for POTUS won't make a hill of beans worth of difference (it was embarrassing enough for McCain when in 2008 he let normally super red state Indiana get away somehow...) so I guess we can always vote for ourselves if nothing else?
