This is meant to be an apolitical thread. This isn't about who you're voting for or what party you are voting for unless it's to clarify your position.
Now onto the question. My Step-Dad Always votes Republican. Always. Now the reason this makes me scratch my head is that every one he's voted for has flat out said they want to eliminate programs that allow him to collect disability. This would severely hurt him. He is unable to work and hold down a job.
Me personally I look at a candidate and I figure out "What do they want?" and I mean at all levels of government if a third party or a Republican said their big push was raising minimum wage to $15 an hour I would vote for them in a heart beat but if a candidate said in clear and certain language that their big push was to take something away from me some benefit, right etc I would not vote for them because I can't see voting for someone to essentially kick me in the nuts.
So why would you? If a senator has a record of saying things like "Lower Taxes" and then votes to raise your taxes while lowering the taxes of another tax bracket why would you vote for them?
This just has me very curious. And I am not talking about something they said like "I am going to ensure this group of people gets the right to marry" that clearly doesn't affect anyone but that group. Where if you try you can interpret it as devaluing what you have but doesn't really.
I am talking all levels too. Is it because "I must vote for my party even if my party wants to kick me in the nuts" Or do you not believe them when they say they are going to kick you in the nuts. Please what makes people vote for their own nut kicking.
