I fully admit the thought of screwing with Trump signs crosses my mind. I don't approve of those who support a candidate who is anti-human rights. Trump is a disgrace and anyone who wants to vote for him because of his racist/sexist/bigoted reasons are too.

But you haven't. Which puts you on a higher moral ground, in my mind, than the people in the videos.

Because the signs are someone else's property. Not to mention in many cases people went onto (or in some cases drove onto) someone else's property to commit the act.

My understanding of this last one is that the sign in question was posted within the "no electioneering" zone around a polling place, so it was posted illegally. Booby-trapping a sign on your own property, where a previous sign was vandalized, is one thing. Booby-trapping one that's posted where NO signs are allowed is quite another.

I own a lot that located at T-intersection. For those running for office it's a great place to post signs as it is a busy intersection. I don't have a problem with folks putting their campaign signs there providing they ask first. The vast majority don't ask and just put up their signs. To be fair I call the canidate and ask them to take down the sign within 24 hours. Some comply, most don't and a few cuss me and threaten me. So I take down their sign and if it's replaced I take that one down. I've had one cop say something to me and I told him I owned the land and had asked for sign removal. He just shrugged and drove off.
I haven't booby trapped a sign myself but a guy that put a sign there did (unknown to me) and shocked the whiz out of some trespassers and thieves.
My opinion about folks that get hurt breaking the law, don't break the law and you won't get hurt. If you're home, business and/or car is being messed with then you have the right to defensively protect it without repercussions.

During the last Canadian federal election, in the Greater Toronto Area there were news stories about people's cars being vandalized if they had Liberal lawn signs - or even if they didn't have any signs, but had Liberal signs in the PREVIOUS election (I wonder if the vandals hit people who had bought houses between the two elections). My impression was that the vandals were trying to send the message "You support someone other than our beloved Harper? Pay the price!"

Interesting trivia - in Canada, red is associated with the left-leaning major party, and blue with the right-leaning major party. According to a YouTube clip I've seen, it was that way as well in the U.S. for most of the last century, with the colours being reversed as of the 2000 election.
