I live in IL(going to school in WI) and I had some teachers in HS who had their Bachelor's and they were going back for their Master's.

As for being in a nicer area, yes, nicer than some. For the most part, we were poor. I dunno if it's part of a new thing where lesson plans have be so articulate, since my High School experience was more recent than some on here. the teacher I was a student aide for my senior year let me look at his lesson plans, so I could get an idea of what I was looking forward to.

Holy crap is all I have to say.

So maybe standards are different these days. I was mainly referring to High School, if that clears anything up.

Most states require a Masters within 5 years of your probationary licensing, or getting the Masters beforehand.
The states of Florida, California, and Nevada all allow someone to teach with a Bachelor's Degree. Florida and California, however, require a certification test. Nevada does not. I don't know about any other states.
