  • a good reason to have a young president

story here(wow a story about Obama's administration doing good-from Fox? WTF? is it opposite day?)

basicly the senate wants to give the president control over the internet-a "kill switch" if you will(me thinks someone watched the last die hard a few too many times), but thankfully Obama and his administration know more about it than some of the dinosaurs in the senate and does not support the idea.

Clinton, of the Internet Security Alliance, praised President Obama's May science policy review, which he said would take cybersecurity in the right direction by promoting incentives to get the private industry to improve its own security measures.

But he faulted the Senate bill, which he said would centralize regulations for an industry that is too varied to fall under the control of a single set of rules without endangering the economy and security.

"We think a lot of things need to be done to enhance cybersecurity," he told FOXNews.com, but this bill is "not something that we could support."

for the record-the Internet Security Alliance is an independent group however President Obama does ask for/include/take their advice into consideration on things-which is more than he would have to do.

It would be absolutely hilarious to watch everyone who "has to be" online every waking moment of the day going without the internet for a while.

But, aside from that bit of dark humor, this is one of the few smart ideas Obama has had.

It's sad that we consider politiians not being stupid as cause for celebration.

I was thinking it's because Joe Biden is a bigger idiot than Obama.
Crooked banks around the world would gladly give a loan today so if you ever miss a payment they can take your home away.

I have to say him being tech sauvy enough to know this bill the senate is pushing is BS and would cause more problems than anything, and the conforming to what ever would be counter to what they say they want us to do...

That is something to celebrate. Someone who GETS IT with technology to the point he can tell the dinosaurs "That won't work right." I'll celebrate that.

Have techies conform to a standard? When the tech world is fluid and ever changing? Talk about killing the tech industry. Or making it easier to attack us.
