Now, let me be a real nasty piece of work, and suggest that everyone who voted for Bush/Cheney second time around also wanted a war in Iraq.... either that, or they didn't smell the coffee for some other reason...
Well, "for some other reason" covers virtually everything, but please remember that *at the time* the war seemed much more likely to be necessary than it turned out to be.

No, I didn't vote for them. Actually, I deliberately didn't vote because I decided I wasn't informed enough to make a good decision and didn't like what little I did know about the candidates.

Ouch. Trust me, I did not *want* war in Iraq. Here we go back to the information that was given, presented and what not. The information that was given was clearly wrong (we know this now). It was not doctored by the Bush administration. (There is no evidence, reported by 2 non-partisan investigations, that support any information was doctored to justify a war in Iraq.

Now, to say that I *wanted* war is flat out wrong. And I will say that as it is the truth. I did vote for Bush in 2004.

Well, OK FashionLad - the information presented wasn't 'doctored' (arguable), but that does mean that people consider starting a war because a country chooses to develop chemical and biological weapons is ok.. yes?

Which really is the thread on when terrorism isn't really terrorism - when it's a 'pre-emptive strike'. The UN and many nations not a part of the security council opposed the war in Iraq - yet the US government still went in anyway... the US government wanted war!
ZOE: Preacher, don't the Bible got some pretty specific things to say about killing?

SHEPHERD BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, Somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

The U.S. government felt it was in our best interest to go to war. Find hardcore evidence that proves that the information leading to the war in Iraq was doctored. I have to bi-partisan committees, the actual C.I.A. from America saying that it wasn't.

I have UN weapons inspection teams saying they couldn't find anything, nor any traces of such weapons before the US went in... and that any chance of such WMD's were in fact wiped out much earlier due to inspections. Additionally, UN Inspectors were asked to leave by the US prior to any decision to invade - which was reported as they were forced to leave Iraq by the Iraqis. Similarly, the UN inspectors have said that of the three hundred inspections they attempted, only three did 'not go smoothly'.

So, if you're trying to argue that the CIA wouldn't lie... hmmm - sorry, I'm not that trusting.....

You may find this hard to believe, but there are an awful lot of things that are as important or more important than a war when voting for a president.

In this particular instance, over all national security could have been the factor that made one vote for Bush/Cheney. Or the hope of the administration being able to limit the killing of millions of innocent people through changes in abortion laws. Or any one or several of the other issues relevant when choosing who to vote for.

You may think the Iraq war was the most important consideration in that election, but I would wager many people had other priorities that outweighed that.

I just typed up a good, in-depth response - but my net failed to post... so please just presume that it was great, and refuted all your points effectively
