I didn't say it was necessarily OK... just that they didn't hate me, so I didn't really care...

It's called a witticism. Sometimes using the same word for something over and over gets boring and repetitive. Changing it up can make you sound smart and add some interest to the conversation.

I never get tired of taco bell...

Hey guys, want to go grab some missnomered fried beans and cheese melted inside a tube of unleavened bread?

I wonder what would happen if I buried a manifesto decreeing the summary execution of all assholes inscribed in gold plates, and left clues so that in 150 years someone would find them and turn them into a religion.............

Why do you think belonging to a certain group means you automatically have to hate? Why is it that an atheist can't hate another atheist on completely different reasons?

Most people usually have more than one agenda.

Because usually it's differences that cause people to hate; it's more prone for an athiest to hate a Christian, and vice-versa, then for a Christian to hate another Christian. Though it does happen once you start getting into denominations and such.

And Bronze Age Tribal History =/=Bible.

You seem to have missed my point. When you get outside religion, people usually have more than one thing on their mind. Sports teams, for example, can cause people to hate without anything to do with religion.

You're trying to look at the world in black and white - with my group or for another group. You're forgetting that there are many aspects of humanity, not just those who interpret this text in a way I agree with and everyone else.

The vast majority of people are just trying to get along.

And Bronze Age Tribal History =/=Bible.
My bad. Bronze and Iron Age Tribal History. That bit with the Romans and the Jewish mystic nailed to some wood is definitely iron age.

You should also include Neolithic, Paleolithic and Primordial.

I was under the impression we were discussing merely religious/belief differences, so my bad for not noticing that I had to include everything that makes people different. My point was merely that athiests ridiculing religious people for hating is hypocritical since they have their own reasons to hate people for whatever differences they choose.

Doesn't quite roll off the tongue, though, does it?

I was under the impression that this was a political thread and not a religious one. The title suggests it is, the first post suggests it is, and the area of the forum it's in suggests it is.

Okay, this discussion should be about Conservatism in America. So we should all get back on topic.

I find myself to be half and half, conservative in some respects, and liberal in others. So if you count simply having conservative views as being 'Conservative' than I guess I am.
