  • Bush "inherited" 9/11?!

So apparently Rudy Giuliani said, and I quote "We had no domestic attacks under Bush, we had 1 under Obama". And a few weeks back Mary Matalin said Bush "Inherited" 9/11.

    Rudy: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/0..._n_416033.html

    Mary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xR93iKtFlcQ

All I can say is, wow. That's quite a slip of the tongue.

The 9/11 Commission's report is unequivocal; the Bush administration dropped the ball. It's on their shoulders, not Clinton's.

Wow...Giuliani is STILL trying to milk 9/11 for political and personal gain, huh? Bush didn't "inherit" 9/11, it happened on his watch. He "inherited" the fucking Presidency. Oh, and if the Christmas Eve bomber qualifies as a 'domestic attack' then so does what's-his-name that tried to blow up a plane with a shoe bomb.

I can still vividly remember Joe Biden's great one-liner from the 2008 Democratic Presidential debate :

"Rudy Giuliani . . . There are only three things he ever puts in a sentence - a noun, a verb, and 9/11!"
"Well, the good news is that no matter who wins, you all lose."

Well, after all, how could the guy who was mayor of New York at the time be expected to remember little details like that?
"My in-laws are country people and at night you can hear their distinctive howl."

Still though, many of the events leading up to 9/11 happened before Bush was even in office--the African embassy bombings, the US going into Somalia (which bin Ladin has claimed as "justification" for his campaign against the US) to name a couple. Then there were the reports that came out before 9/11, which said bin Ladin was a threat...yet nothing was done by both Clinton and Bush. More Bush's fault, simply because it did happen under his watch.

President Madison inherited the war of 1812 because of events preceding his time in office. That doesn't magically make 1812 not something he is responsible for.

With the way some people like to point fingers, then why not go back further. Let's blame it on Papa Bush for the first Gulf War, or Reagan and Papa Bush for the Iran Contra scandal, add Carter to the two of them for the Iran-Iraq war, and not supporting Russia's invasion of Afghanistan and letting the Taliban take control of the country? Hell, we could probably find reasons to blame Ford, and Nixon too. Shit Blame Truman and whoever was running England at the time (Still Churchill?)for letting Russia have too much after World War II.

That area has been a shit storm rolling down hill for hundreds of years.

Or heck, lets blame it on Og and Thog. They had that fight over Ola, way back when. Caused all this mess. . People try to pass the buck, it is nature. Other people even try to pass the buck for them, for whatever reason. It's the nature of the beast.
