I'm not so sure of that, Smiley. Pittsburgh's main post office is just down the road from me. All mail to and from the area goes through that office.

Australia or across town, it still has to go through the same process.(receive, verify, sort, mark, ship, etc) All of that takes time. The amount of time in actual transit is actually pretty short. And international mail gets a higher priority because there are more steps from customs and the like, so those are sent out much more frequently than local.

ok, so scratch that... I was just giving a possibility based on other people I knew with the same problem.

            Do something!!

IF something isn't done to stop the spread of the government into all aspects of everyday Americans, then a 2nd civil war wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.

The government has long ago lost its abilitry to relate to the people. The way it is now isn't the way it was set up to be.

When the United States government was founded, it had the people vote representatives to congress who would work on the business of the government every so often, Then after that business was concluded, those representatives would go back to their regular jobs where they could continue to be able to relate to the people who elected them. BUT somewhere along the way, all that changed.

NOW you have career politicians who don't care about the common person & the ONLY time they even think of the common person is when they look down at their feet to see what it is they're stepping on.

It doesn't matter what political party you vote for-they all promise anything you want to hear & once in office, they do what's in their best interests.

The people have become like sheep agreeing to anything the government comes up with.

IF the founding father's could see the mess this country is in, they'd be rolling over in their graves.

People should take an active role in not only watching what the government does & says but take steps to insure the government doesn't have a blank check to trample all over them & pass legislation that's contary to the principles in what America was founded upon.

BUT what do many people focus on instead of the actions of the government? How many mistresses does Tiger Woods have this week? When is Kate Gosselin dancing? Shit like that that is only a distraction to the real issues that should concern anyone & everyone.

It's classic 'bread and circus.' Eddie Izzard was right; we are the new Roman Empire.

Except it's not quite the same. Every person who is obsessed with these celebs has the option themselves to watch C-Span and see the government in action, follow the news in their local paper, or follow political news on Google. This isn't a distraction given by the government and their cronies, this is a distraction demanded by the populace.

It's less Roman Empire, more Fahrenheit 451.

To an extent. But I know for a fact that if Medicare won't pay for something, neither will any insurance company. Everyone moans about the evil insurance companies, but they're just following Washington.

Plus making it illegal to not have health insurance and charging people out the ass? That is very bullshit.
I'd love to know how they intend to enforce this insurance requirement. Toss people in jail? Fines? That's a great plan. Take more money from people that don't have it to begin with.

And how does the government intend to pay for this trillion dollar bill? Raise taxes? That'll be popular, especially in a recession. I also worry that at least initially so many people will be on the government option that they won't be able to pay for them all and the government option will become just as restrictive or moreso than insurance. This bill, I'm afraid, is not going to be the magic bullet it's been made out to be.

I once waited a week for a package to get from Cinncinatti to Louisville. I could have picked the dang thing up myself in about 3 hours round trip. In that same week, I had two packages arrive within a couple days from the west coast that were ordered the same day and shipped through FedEx. USPS may be efficient with the daily mail runs, but they suck when it comes to package shipping.

I never thought this bill was a magic bullet, just that it was better than doing nothing.
