Yup. Natural insulin is created by every animal, as a means of processing sugars from the food you eat. Being that pigs are the closest to humans biologically, the insulin they produce required little modification to make it compatible with human physiology.

So yes, that PETA loony is saying that her life is worth sacrificing animals for, but no one else is.

As for the animal-rights activists committing assault in the name of protest (throwing paint on people in fur coats on the grounds that it's wrong to wear animal skins), I don't see any ethical difference between a middle-aged woman wearing a fur coat and a burly biker wearing a leather jacket. If they truly believed in their cause, they should treat the 2 cases in the same way, but you never hear about them throwing paint on bikers in leather.

Well, there's crazy, and then there's just plain stupid insanity. They haven't quite crossed that line yet.

That's the thymus or pancreas of a COW. Not a pig. Two different animals.

As for PETA...ugh, thank god we don't have it here in Ausland.

And oddly enough, the page I just read states that synthetic insulin might take effect a lot quicker than non-synthetic, but then again, it's wiki
