  • Eco-Terrorism/Eco-Activists

I'm posting this in response to the thread on CS about the 11 Tigers. Now, I myself have nothing against eco-activists, because they do raise important concerns about our impact on the einvironment. However, eco-terrorism is the same as any other terrorism, in my opinion, and some of the organizations out there, (ALF, PETA etc.) are dangerous.

    Absolutely.

ALF (which is supported and funded by PETA) has burned down laboratories doing important medical research because the labs used animal test subjects. And that is absolutely terrorism. I highly recommend the Penn & Teller's Bullshit episode on PETA for more information.

Yeah, that's where I learned the truth of PETA. I forget the name, but they also funneled money to a well-known eco-terrorists before he did a firebombing.

Is one of those also the group that would steal pets that were perfectly happy in their homes and "free" them in the wild where they couldn't possibly survive? Sorry I can't remember better, but being cruel to animals in the name of helping them seems to me, as far as mentality goes AND ONLY IN THAT VERY LIMITED SENSE, worse than damaging property or even people for the same purpose. At least the latter is "only" a problem of proportion, priorities, etc, whereas the former is lunacy.

They are called eco terrorists and not ecological terrorists because logical left the picture a long time ago.

            check out petakillsanimals.com
their "shelters" only adopted out 1 in 300 animals the rest were euthanized,(they took in 2,366 animals, and only adopted out 8-that's a worse record than the worst kill shelter anywhere) Heck two of their members were on trial for "animal cruelty"-they took perfectly healthy kittens and puppies and not 15 minutes after taking custody under the false pretense of "finding them loving homes"killed them and dumped their bodies in a dumpster. They got off on the charge of "obtaining property by false pretense" by arguing that "animals have no value"-I guess unless it's convenient-in short they're hypocrites of the worst order.

They've forcibly taken seeing eye dogs away from blind people because it's "forced slavery"

they believe disabled humans rather than gaining independence from service animals should be beholden to other people for assistance, sorry most people I've run into with service animals would not want that-that's why they opted for a service animal in the first place. They also feel it's "irresponsible" to breed service and police dogs, and they should get them from shelters....

read more-article has a link to the official statement that contains this information

About PETA, don't forget they oppose medical testing, but one of their mouthpieces is only too happy to take insulin injections. Her life is too important for the sake of the animals, but everyone else is apparently expendable.

What I found really cute about that, Talon, is that is EXACTLY what she said. Or close to it.

yeah and when presented with the option of taking synthetic insulin that doesn't come from animals suffering/being killed*-"it doesn't work as well-I'd have to check/inject more" again ok for the animals to suffer but not her....

*I'm not 100% clear on how insulin is gotten from animals...soooo...

IMO they pick their fights. It's a lot easier (and cheaper) to go to the Westminster Kennel Club show and complain to the people who treat their dogs well than it is to fly to China to actually HELP some very rare animals in danger / dying.

It was tested on animals, which I understand PETA opposes in all ways. At least thats what Penn and Teller tell me.

It's not derived from them, they just use pigs to test the drugs out to make sure they work.

No, it's made from them, it's extracted from the animals pancreas.
