  • Health Care reform bill reactions

OK, I don't fully support the health care reform bill, like many people but what the hell is up with people calling in death threats and threats of physical violence? That's just immature and really REALLY stupid.

Rep Eric Canto's office was even shot at!

    WTF??

People, if you don't like it - TELL THEM YOU DON'T LIKE IT. Death threats, threats of violence etc. will get NOTHING done other than your ass thrown in jail.

President Obama actually joked about that during his speech in Iowa today, saying that as he was signing he was looking out for asteroids.

What I find funniest is that now some conservatives/Republicans are saying, "Well, we'll just leave the country!" Um...to where, exactly? Most countries that you'd want to go to, already have national health care. So, good luck with that.

I think they either A: Don't realize exactly how much they get their way in this country compared to others or B: Think that anything less than 100% their way is a horrible intrusion on their rights.

Either way, it's got no bearing back here in real people land.

This really is a poor reflection on the American people and it's not helping our reputation. I don't like the bill either, but the way I'm going to deal with it is that if any of my reps voted for it, I won't vote for them in the next election. And laugh maniacally if/when the thing backfires spectacularly. Someone who doesn't listen to their constituants doesn't need to be in Washington.

                So let's fire 'em all!

Very true. Though there are a lot of countries that share the same freedoms that the republicans seem to desire, like no public healthcare and the right to carry weapons, such countries are also not allies with the US and the people there usually have had more than a few family members killed by a weapon carrying American.

Care to guess just how long they will last in such a country?

From what I remember, very few countries at all allow civilians to carry weapons. Those that do, tend to have some weird / obsolete restrictions.

The 'leaving the country' speil is hollow and they know it as much as we do, it just makes their vaginas hurt a little less .

                      Health care reform nonsense

A lot of people now don't get insurance cause they simply can't afford it. Now with this health care reform signed into law making it a requirement to get insurance, what makes these government types think people are going to be able to afford it then? & then if you don't get the insurance, the IRS can fine you up to $695!! So if you can't afford the insurance then how could you possibly pay the fine??

The president will be going out trying to win support for this health care reform that he signed into law. So if this such a good thing then why does he need to do this? Who is he REALLY trying to convince? Him or us? AND if it's already a law then all the bitching & complaining about it isn't going to do anything.

The government themselves won't be subject to this new health care reform. They just voted to NOT be a part of it!! So why can't we get the type of insurance they have?

Well, fining people for not buying health care sounds absolutely stupid to me. How are we going to afford it if they just fine us?

That's just it. There's so much wrong information and spin and other BS out there.

Let's get something straight, I am not in favor of "old people dying in the streets" because I don't support health care reform.

I DO support health care reform, just NOT the kind of reform the Dems just enacted. I am in favor of more insurance industry controls and the allowing of insurance to be purchased across state lines but requiring everyone to buy health insurance and penalizing those who don't is just way too much IMO.

Don't assume just because I don't support "Obamacare" I am a heartless bastard. It's just not true.

I actually support much of the health care bill, but the part about requiring everyone to get insurance isn't setting too well with me. Maybe I'm just overreacting, though. After all, we're required to get auto insurance. Still, I'm kind of hoping that the requirement to buy insurance gets dropped.

As for the death threats, I'm saddened, but not all that surprised. These people are bullies, and that's how bullies operate.

You don't have to get car insurance. Yes, there are ways to buy a car & not get it insured but if you get into an accident then you're screwed...lol.
