Personally, I hope they don't sign that bill. I think that it's going to make things worse as far as I'm concerned. Joe Arpaio pretty much already has been doing what the cops would with this bill and I fear that with this bill things like racial profiling would start happening.

Is it really that difficult of a concept to grasp? Legal immigration = good, illegal immigration = bad.
If I come into your house unwanted, would I be allowed to stay rent free, eat your food, use your resources and tell you you have no right to complain? Or would you kick me out and press charges on me for trespassing?

From a personal standpoint I respect the country and people of Mexico, I have no issues with them and I do not seem as inferior to Americans. At the same time though, I DO have issues with Mexicans (or anyone else for that matter) who enters this country illegally.

Here is an article about a sharp decline in violence in my county - and the mention of our law against Illegal Aliens
Virginia is NOT a border state. Yet we had a disproportional amount of illegals in our area (Northern Virginia - we're outside of Washington, DC). The law has been around since 2007. Prince William County, I believe was one of the first cities/counties/areas in the U.S. to enact a law against illegal aliens. In the 3 years since this law was enacted, there. has. not. been. anyone. who. alleges. our. cops. have. been. racial. profiling. 3 years. That tells me, that this Arizona law can get the illegals our of the state without racial profiling.
Because illegals are no longer allowed in our area, they have gone north up into DC and into Maryland. As I posted in my previous post, Maryland is now thinking of a law similar to Arizona.
The Federal Government wants the states to stop enacting these types of laws? Then they darn well had better get their heads out of their asses, stop whining about the unfairness of the Arizona law, and start crafting legislation that will kick these criminals out of our country.
Like Arizona's law, it originally gave LEOs the right to stop anybody for suspecting they were illegal. They didn't have to stop you for any other crime first. Because of the legality behind that (racial profiling) they changed the law to being forced to check the status of anyone that has been arrested and leave it up to the officer's discretion only after stopping them for a valid reason first.
I have found no mention of the right to sue PWC's finest for failing to enforce this law nor have I found any mention of the legal residents being susceptible to fines and jail time for not carrying proof of their legal status.
What I have been finding are several reports of unlawful detainment, where legal residents and citizens have been held in jail for hours at a time by both local and Federal LEOs until their status has been proven.

Locally, quite a few areas had their entire economy based on either the steel, glass, or coal industries. Every town usually had a mill, or if there wasn't a mill...a mine or glass plant. For decades, Pittsburgh literally supplied the world with steel. In fact, former Soviet leader insisted on coming here...because of those mills
Unfortunately though, things started getting bad by the 1970s. Imported steel, from Japan, and other places, helped kill off our industry. Not because of a boycott, but simply because the imported stuff cost much less. Throw in the labor unrest, the early 1980s recession, and most of the mills were closed. Closing those mills, brought many former boom towns to their knees. As jobs were lost, people moved out, causing many other businesses (like lunch rooms, which enjoyed the business from the workers) to fail as well. Nearly 50,000 steel workers (locally) lost their jobs between 1980 and 1984 All of those jobs are gone for good--I can remember driving into downtown 25-30 years ago, and seeing the still-running mills (Homestead, South Side Works, etc.)--the fires from the ovens, the columns of smoke, etc. Now, all of that is gone--what's left is many abandoned buildings, weed-filled lots, and crumbling buildings.
Since then though, the city has managed to reinvent itself. Pardon my French, but we got pretty fucking lucky. Instead of being "The Steel City," we're now known for healthcare, banking, and technology. Sadly though, many of the smaller towns (like McKeesport, which will probably never recover) haven't been so lucky. Some, have literally disappeared from maps. Even though my city will never be like it was, I can't complain...given the alternatives.

The point is; AZ is talking about CUTTING OFF PEOPLE'S POWER, and not affecting an economy, which is what LA is doing. They'll be cutting off families from heating and cooling sources (seeing as summer is quickly approaching) and from cooking resources as well.
Then again, I don't expect AZ to be humanitarian about anything now.

Earlier I mentioned how the law violated the UN Declaration on Human Rights. Looks like the UN agrees: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/0..._n_571334.htmlLast edited by Boozy; 05-21-2010, 03:32 AM.
