So Mexican pride is so weak that acknowledging another country exists on the day for Mexican pride is a threat to it? I hope the teachers took down American flags and hid all the globes. Lord knows the terrors that could occur if a Mexican found out about Sweden or Australian. I love America but I don't care if people wear shirts for other countries EVEN on the 4th of July. The actions of others have no effect on me and my feelings.

Apparently for these guys it is. All people are doing is assuming an intent behind the flag wearing. Even if there was, they should still have the right to. As long as they weren't being blatently racist, I see this as a non issue.

This is just another instance of caving into the over sensitivities of other cultures.

Schools notoriously cater to the oversensitive. That's why participation ribbons exist. I don't think the capacity for showy patriotism to distract/bother students should be ignored just because it's patriotism. It's not impossible to use patriotism as a tool to be a huge asshole. And I think it's a little far-fetched to assume they had NO evidence to back up intent.

Hey now aside from the Hessians on the Redcoats side, I'd say it's perfectly legitimate, I mean we ALMOST had a dual language nations (German AND English).

Key word is German, thank you Pennsylvania Doitch.

We don't have a single language nation. Plus we have lot of words in American that they don't have in British that come from German and other languages.

It absolutely IS possible to do that. But it still shouldn't matter here, because no one bothered to find out if they WERE being assholes or just wearing a shirt. And even if they were, making sure no one's widdle feewings get offended is a poor reason to send a kid home (barring true hate speech).

They didn't send the kid home without giving him options, though. I'm pretty sure I've had to turn a shirt inside out for being distracting before. I think I had this shirt:

And I didn't flip my shit, I just did it. Again--distraction is contextual. He just wanted to get all whiny about having some kind of right to be confrontational, when the full spectrum of rights just doesn't apply in a school setting, because it would interfere too much with the educational process if it did.
