My point was, that in the original argument Mad Mike was condemning the entirety of the government for one incident. Upon looking for other instances, the only ones were the one in the UK and the one in the OP; hardly the abuse of power/"Oh noes, Big Brother!" ramble I've been hearing.

In all seriousness, the train is not a comparable mode of travel to flying.

Exactly. I'm going to be taking my first flight in August for a conference. I'm guessing it'll take a few hours to fly to LA. Amtrak would probably take 3 days.

My mom and I took the train out to ABQ when she sent me off to college, it was more for the experience than anything else.

Train: 2 days, but we got great food, scenery and met a hell of a lot of interesting people. Our one layover/train change through Chicago gave us time during which we could leave the station and not worry about our luggage, get lunch and just wander
Plane: 6 hours, but cramped, crazy (4 hours with three screaming kids), no real food and if you're lucky enough to get 2+ hours to kill you can't leave the terminal.

So the pros and cons would seem to even out.

As far as train vs Plane. I prefer the train but usually because I don't have to travel for business. Most of my traveling is for pleasure. If I have to be somewhere in a hurry I will hop a plane.

I prefer the Train for my vacationing because I like taking my time getting whereever I am going.

I have used the Full Body Scanners and I really do not see a problem with them.
