No, they're racist for having policies that target a specific race: that's unconstitutional, ie. illegal.

Except they rarely target one race. People got all up in arms about the Arizona law even though race wasn't part of it. Its because minorities insisted all white people are racist and would target them.

While on paper it may not say "target Hispanics" Hispanics-legal ones- have been targeted. They have been stopped and detained because they couldn't provide birth certificates. It's unreasonable to ask a specific group to carry around proof of birth on their person. Also, the police don't ask white traffic offenders for certificates of birth. The law must be applied equally to all people to be constitutional.

Because white traffic offenders don't try to act like they only speak spanish to get out of tickets. Legal hispanics should support laws that target illegals because the large number of hispanics who sneak into the country throws suspicion on all of them. Its their fault not the lawmakers.

i do support laws that target illegals, particularly those that give guest worker status to those that haven't committed any violent crimes, so that they may begin down the path to full legal citizenship. i also support immigration reform so that these people are able to come over legally with a minimum of hassle, relieving them of the feeling that illegally is the only way they can enter the country. i support helping their home countries so that they feel they have options other than coming here to support their families.

i also find arizona's law both morally and legally reprehensible, and until it is repealed i have no intention of entering arizona, as i don't feel like getting harassed by police due to my skin color. which is sad, really, since i had a rim-to-rim hike of the grand canyon planned for next year, and it's always been a dream of mine to do so.

That's the reason why I'm flying to Vandenburg rather than drive through it. I'm gonna have my car loaded down with belongings if I drive, making me a big target.

The law said it was equal, therefore it was equal. Whether something is equal or not is determined by law and court rulings. How we feel on the matter is irrelevant. It's part of being American; we live under the Rule Of Law. Law Is All And All Is The Law.

If they want to clamp down on illegal immigration, how about this for size. More guards at the borders, patch up any areas that illegals can go through the border to the US as well as enacting and enforcing strict checkpoint requirements i.e. documentation that the person(s) wishing to immigrate have the proper documentation on hand at the checkpoint or leave.

As it stands right now, the Border Patrol is about 2/3rds unfunded and 3/5ths undermanned. They just don't have the people or the money.

Of course, that just means we vote for border appropriations in Congress. However, every time border control appropriations come up, the Republicans in both houses of Congress who are in states with heavy illegal immigration vote en masse against it. Oh, it would be a waste of money to hire more Border Patrol or give them more equipment. Yup.

And you say "But wait a second! Those Republicans keep harping on how illegal immigration needs to be stopped!" Yes, that's true. That's what would be popular. But the corporations who are FUNDING those Republicans all rely on illegal immigrants for their labor and they don't want it touched. Senator McCain has to pay attention to the money-men if he wants to remain a Senator.

This is not to say that it does not happen on the Democrat side; it just happens less. For being the party that supposedly campaigns against illegal immigration, the Republicans sure don't want to do a damn thing about it.

Really? That's not what the training material says. Reasonable suspicion includes:

- Vehicle is overcrowded or rides heavily Hmmm, looks like low-riders and carpooling is out in Arizona.
- Dress What type of dress? Oh, they don't say. I hope they don't confuse anybody. I have a windbreaker just like those 'illegals' wear.
- Significant difficulty communicating in English Well, there goes my deaf ex-girlfriend into custody for being tanned and not able to speak.
