I wonder how many pro-lifers eat eggs? After all, they're aborted chickens.

I really hope you mean that some of the responsibility would be put into the guy's hand and not all. I refuse to let a guy have complete reproductive control over me. It's not like all guys are responsible and we women cannot take control of our own bodies. Currently, I take the pill and whomever my partner is must put on a condom. It is the responsibility of both partners to take steps to prevent conception if they do not wish for a child.

I am pro-choice, but I will not personally get an abortion. What other people do in their own lives is not my responsibility and it is not my business.

I should have clarified my statement a bit more.

There are women out there that will have a kid to keep a guy around when a relationship goes bad. If the man had a pill for birth control then he could prevent that. To a degree. One method of birth control is not always effective so having at least two different methods is better.

For women the pill is notorious for not being effective if she is on antibodies or is talking a vitamin supplement. I have even heard that over the counter pain meds can make the pill ineffective.

          I'm with everybody here.

I cannot judge the women who go anyplace to have an abortion. (That's probably something else someone can throw at the anti-abortion groups that protest).

However, I do not like the idea of abortion.

Tabby is correct that men should have some say in contraception when it comes to them. Not only for their own sake but for their partner's sake too.

More doctors should be willing to sterilize people when they are asked to (after intensive counseling due to those who do "change their minds").

I believe in more and better sec education in schools. And at home. (Though the at home part cannot be enforced).

Ya know, it may not be so bad if there was a male Pill, if the idiots remembered to take it

Think about it. Some girls purposely don't take their Pills or pretend they are on BC just to trick a guy, not many do it, but a few rotten eggs of girls do it. It'd be great for guys to be able to have a backup plan and be able to protect themselves.

Which is why I get my fiance to wrap it, too. Double protection just in case. I've also taken the morning after pill once, cuz I was taking penicillin and the condom split.

And yeah, thanks for clarifying. ^^

Now all we need is for doctors to stop treating grown women like children; a thirty one year old man could get a snip easy as anything, and yet there's still the same risk that he might change his mind.

Though it deserves to be brought up again that in both cases, tubal ligation and vasectomies are reversible with about a 98% success rate. Additionally, you can always have sperm or ova (ovum? whats the plural?) frozen before getting the procedure in case you change your mind and the reversal fails.

The tube litigation and vasectomy are only reversible if you have the money and a good surgeon. It also matter if the first surgeon did the surgery properly.

As far as I'm concerned, the cost of the reversal procedure is yet another point in favor of vasectomy/tubal ligation.

If someone can't save up with a a few thousand dollars for the reversal, how the hell would they ever be able to afford raising a child?

i'd be interested in knowing where this number is coming from, since all the information i've been able to find, at least for ligation reversal, places the success rate for the surgery at somewhere between 40 and 80 percent, with actual pregnancy rates being much lower.

as for vasectomy reversal, yes, it's true that there's a >90% success in getting sperm flow into the ejaculate restored, but the actual amount of sperm flow runs from ~70-~97% of normal, with pregnancy rates again being lower.

in both cases, successful reversal and successful pregnancy after reversal depend on a number of factors, including age at reversal, time since the initial surgery, type of surgery initially performed, damage from initial surgery, scar tissue buildup, etc.

Those numbers refer to surgical success, and assume that both the initial procedure and reversal are performed as an outpatient microsurgery procedure at a specialist clinic.
When I was checking websites (google search for "tubal ligation reversal,") to get an idea of the cost those stats seemed pretty consistant.

I was affording raising a child but I couldn't have afforded saving up the money for that.
