Three of them are on www.ebaumsworld.com

Apparently, one of them is from a town pretty close to home for me.

I looked at the first picture and decided that I couldn't blame him. After that, I wondered who the Hades Eliot spitzer is.

Sorry, blame my classic Ameri-centric worldview for making me believe everyone in the world knew he (was) the governor of New York State (until Monday the 17th, when he officially resigns and the Lt. Gov is sworn in in the interim.)

For those of you just joining us...ahem...

Spitzer was the Attorney General of NY State prior to becoming NY Governor. He was viewed as a crusader, as he had cracked down on several Wall Street firms for illicit and shady actions among other actions as AG. A few days ago, it was revealed that as a result of the Federal bust of a prositution ring in the NYC area, Spitzer had been implicated as one of their past "customers" to the tune of approximately $80,000 ($5K an...uh...pop.) Yesterday at about 11:45 AM EST, he announced he would resign effective Monday.

I think this is great- his lieutenant governor is awesome, and will now be governor! Go David Paterson!

Wasn't he a possibility for attorney general for the US?

Meh. She'll have her 15 minutes of fame and then it'll be some other scandal taking over eventually.

Spitzer did himself in - in more ways than one. Back in 2001 he helped implement a law that now has NY banks tracing large money transfers, with special notice given to - you guessed it - *politicians*. When his own financial discrepancies popped up, it blew the cover on his infidelities. Way to go, dumbass. Guess it's a classic case of being too arrogant to think you'll be the exception to the rule and not get caught.

Bigger, there were rumors of him possibly being a running mate for whoever wins the democratic nomination, or making a run for the presidency himself in the future.

I dunno why his wife would want to still be with him after he's been unfaithful to her by committing adultery with a hooker? I'd divorce him and take him to the cleaners if I were her. Now his reputation and career are sullied from that dumb ass move he made.

It's her choice, and I support it, as much as I would support her choice if she divorced him and took him to the cleaners. Maybe.....

                      1. She's staying with him for the sake of her daughters, to give an example to them of committment to a marriage.

                      2. She knows about his addiction to prostitutes and considers it a treatable illness.

                      3. She is planning to divorce him once the media frenzy dies down.

                      4. She wants a political career of her own- hey, it worked for Hillary!

                      5. They have an open marriage.

                      6. She really loves him and wants to get marriage counseling and work through this with him.

                      7. They don't have an open marriage, but nor does she see fidelity as the sole hallmark of a successful marriage.

                      8. He's already offered her more to stay with him than she'd get in a divorce.

                      9. She's sleeping with hookers, too, and doesn't want to be a hypocrite.

                      10. She needs his support to maintain her and her daughters' lifestyle.

                      11. It's only a few years until their daughters are adults, and she doesn't see the point in breaking up the family so soon before they are off to college.

Yeah... I hate the "omg guess who fucked who" media frenzies. Yes, it's sad that a man who had the trust of a wife and kids broke that trust (if in fact, as Saydrah pointed out, he did). And yes, he sets a bad example for the people who follow his political career and are governed by him. But damn... He's human. He'll fuck up, just like your grade 6 English teacher has fucked up, and your mom, and everybody else on this freaking planet.

I know he influenced a lot of lives, having such a position of power, but a corruption-free society is nearly impossible. Why freak out when each person's screw-ups are pointed out? It'll just happen again tomorrow. And the day after that. And the day after that. And as long as we continue to walk, breathe and think.

Sorry if this post is off-topic.

I agree to a certain extent. What makes this case so noteworthy is the fact that Spitzer was being a hypocrite: he based his career on busting prostitution, and then turned right around and did the very things he was supposed to have been against.

Worse, there are allegations that he engaged in the practice of 'barebacking' - that is, sex without a condom, which means he likely exposed his wife to the potential for STDs, and I would definitely find that unforgivable. Just because AIDS doesn't get as much press as it used to doesn't mean it's not still around.

I looked at the gallery of photos on the smoking gun webpage.

And after doing so, it came to me that there are far more pressing questions people need to be asking (yes, even now):

                            1. What does she do and for how much money?

                            2. What are her limits?

                            3. Does the time you pay for her include the option for photography
(white boyshorts, milk cascades, etc. etc.)?
