  • 2012 Presidential Candidates

    http://www.pantagraph.com/news/weird...cc4c002e0.html

The Naked Cowboy has announced he is running for President in 2012. I like Some of his points so far:

    - drug test requirements for welfare recipients
    - closing the borders (hopefully just meaning securing them)
    - work to reverse the health care bill Obama passed (as long as there is a better idea presented in its place).

Now, the ones I'm not too hot on:
    - abolishing governments for government workers (like the NEA would go for that)
    - abolishing capital gains and income taxes (maybe reworking the income taxes to where they are more proportionate).

But, since he doesn't have an R or D after his name, he isn't going to get a second look by the media and therefore no looks by most of the nation.

    What do you think?

I won't vote for him. I like the idea of health reform. Securing the borders as long as it's not based on racial profiling. What's "abolishing government for governments"? That statement makes no sense to me.

      I think you're right.

I'd honestly want someone with more qualifications than, "Played a guitar on Times Square in underpants."

I think it is time for someone without a military or a big business background (like a CEO, COO, etc - not just a regular employee) to become President. Mr. Burk would be a great option. Just a regular joe. Yeah, his choice of profession is unique. That's what makes America great. A guy can stand in Times Square in underwear, get away with it and still be (possibly) taken seriously as a politician.

Like Admin said...how's that qualifications for PResident? And what's wrong with military backgrounds? Some of our best presidents have served in the military (Washington, Roosevelt, Kennedy etc.).

I think it means getting rid of unions for government employees.

Well, the only one I can think of is the TEA, but it's rather weak considering it's in Texas, and can't fight the state very well. Sucks too, considering how shafted educators are. But then again, Perry is governor here (bastard).

I've never understood why people hate unions.

There is government unions? I've been working for the military for three years now and I've never heard of one since.

I'd prefer to vote for someone who might have a clue as to what the hell they are doing.

Here's what the 2012 election will come down to: Does Sarah Palin run for president?

                If yes, Obama wins re-election.
                If no, Obama loses re-election.

Book it, you heard it here first.

Here are the unions just from Illinois State University (some spillover into different governmental entities as well):

AFSCME (most secretaries), PBLC (Police), Carpenters, Pipefitters, IBEW, IUOE (Tradesmen), FOP (Police/Parking), Teamsters, IEA/NEA, IATSE (stagehands)

If Burk includes city employees: then you also have IAFF (firefighters), road crews (they may be Teamsters, I can't remember), and more.

That's a LOT of unions that would be affected.

                    Not quite.

She can run for President, sure. But if she doesn't win the Republican primary, it won't mean a thing for Obama.

I have the sense that a lot of Republican voters - for some utterly unfathomable reason - actually like Sarah Palin and think she'd make a good President.

But many of them won't vote for her in the GOP primary because they know that she'd get steamrollered in the general election.

And if they have to choose between a different Republican getting elected, or Obama getting re-elected, the Republican voters know what they'd want.

It's like when Ross Perot ran for President back in 1992. Many Perot supporters chose to vote for Bush or Clinton instead, because they knew that Perot didn't have a chance of winning, and they wanted their votes to actually count for something.

Sometimes, practicality dictates that a person can't vote for the candidate that they really want.

Sarah Palin as President is one of those things that could keep me up at night. I'd rather have the Naked Cowboy than Mama Grizzly Soccer Mom Stereotype.

The article I read mentioned he was registered as a Republican in Ohio and was running on the Tea Party ticket.

She isn't the Mama Grizzly Soccer Mom Stereotype. She makes those people look sane and normal.

Right. He would have TP or whatever at the end of his name instead of an R or D and no one will pay him any attention due to that.

I'm registered as a Democrat in my area but if I was to run I would either be Independent or Green as I don't quite match either of the "big two".
