The government is supposed to work for us, not the other way around and not for corporations. Lately it seems that the government has it's own agenda first (securing their own jobs, pay raises, promoting their own personal agendas), corporations second, and Joe Average last.

Sarah Palin scares me. IMO she's borderline Fundamentalist.

Borderline? Nah, I think she IS a Fundamentalist and would represent a giant step backwards in oh so many ways.

Wait, Lately? Hell, I'd say it's been happening for decades.

If Sarah Palin even made it that far, I'd be questioning the overall IQ and mental health state of my fellow Americans.

Barbie herself would make a better president.

It's not so much that a military background is bad... it's that so many people see "military background" and they ignore everything else. The person could have absolutely no qualifications for the position but because they were in the military then they are magically the best candidate.

As far as the Sarah Palin thing... I think I can explain just how dangerous she is by pointing out that she is extremely popular in Utah... if you want the whole country to look like Utah, then by all means, vote for Palin.

What we really need is a gay, female, Arab-American, Wiccan president. Just to see fundies' heads explode

Other than she's bi and not gay and white, I know a woman who would serve perfectly for this... I shall start working to ensure she gets on the ticket

I would pay to see that show. Best entertainment of the century in my mind.

Mr. Burk would be a great option. Just a regular joe. Yeah, his choice of profession is unique. That's what makes America great. A guy can stand in Times Square in underwear, get away with it and still be (possibly) taken seriously as a politician.
Dale that's the kinda of president we have now. Personally I don't think it's working out very well.
I don't think Palin will run because she's intested in being a power broker. So far I'm not overly impressed with anyone.

Generally on those with high ranking military experience and rank run for the office of president although that hasn't been the case in my lifetime. Eisenhower was the General of the Army, MacAuthor ran but didn't get the democratic nomination. Mac would have been a diasaster, Ike was very middle of the road and didn't screw-up very much. Kennedy stepped on his dick and got lucky with the Cuban Missle Crisis and if you burrow into it, he certainly didn't win as big as it's being taught. In my lifetime I think only Clinton and Obama hasn't had any military experience.

So, any candidate that's popular in Utah is automatically a bad candidate?

(Not that I'm endorsing Palin...As somebody that traditionally votes for Republicans, even she gives me pause.)

My prediction for the major 2012 ticket:

                        D - Barack Obama
R - Ron Paul (explanation below)
T - Sarah Palin (again, explanation below)

The GOP is splintering, and badly, and it's their own fault. This whole thing with the "Tea Party" movement is what's doing it. They tried to mimic the grass-roots successes of Ron Paul and Obama, and these are the consequences.

The Tea Party is the most right-winged faction of the GOP right now, and many want it to split of into its own party. There were reports of people not voting in primaries because there was no "Tea Party" candidate on the ballot.

The Tea Party will split off, and probably sooner than later, and among the splitters will likely be some currently sitting members of Congress. If that happens, the entire right-winged side of our government may as well hang it up in the short run. They would never get another majority again having to compete with not only the Dems, but another group of right-wingers.

The Dems will run Obama simply because he is the incumbent. The only way this would not happen is if Obama himself decides not to run for a second term.

The GOP will get desperate. They tried to shut out Ron Paul in 2008 despite his immense popularity, but in my prediction for 2012, the game has changed. They will realize that in a 3-major-party system, Ron Paul's popularity would be their only hope, and last I knew, Paul was *not* part of the greater Tea Party movement.

The Tea Party will run Sarah Palin. They have been grooming her for it over these last years, even if she doesn't currently realize it. She is their biggest mouthpiece, and among their voters she is very popular.

                        Any thoughts on this?

I'd like to see the rise of a viable third party in our country, primarily because I'd be hoping it was the start of a real breaking up of the two-party system. But that the Tea Party would be the ones doing it worries me. And neither of the other two choices are particularly wonderful. But if it came down to those three? I'd probably go for Ron Paul, unless someone better was running as an independent (or even a fourth party).

Actually, Obama was fairly high up in a Chicago law firm before he became a Senator. I think the main reason Obama is failing right now is that he has double-talked himself into some corners as well as being touted as the best thing since sliced bread to the American populace that want to hear catchphrases and one-liners. If I want to hear a promo, I'll watch Monday Night Raw.

I'd put it closer to the idea that a lot of what he had promised the public thought that the second he won the election it was all going to magically happen. Now he's saying that it's not instant and there actually has to be effort applied by the general public and the realization that they actually have to work at it has hit home and they can't stand it.

                                This, for the most part.
