  • The Political Spectrum

Has no one posted something like this yet?

Where do you fall on the political spectrum?

Here's one I like. Its more of a circle than a line (those lines are never accurate) and it measures all aspects of your beliefs, from economic to social. It also shows you how some current and famous world leaders stack up.

I wasn't overly surprised that I am a leftist libertarian, but I was surprised to find myself left of the Dalai Lama.

Even if you don't feel inclined to post your results, you might find it fun to check out.

Apparently I'm a leftist libertarian, too. I'm up and a little to the right of the Dalai Lama.

I don't really even understand what that means.

    I'm so political...(not really)

I ended up the in the same area as you guys - leftist libertarian. Funnily enough, it looks like I'm on the same point as the Dalai Lama. Awesome.

I got centrist, I don't really hold stock in that test though. I believe there's only one true classification for a political standpoint : Independent. We all think differently and if we DO agree, it's coincidence in some cases, so I'd rather just be considered an independent.

I ended up Social libertarian/Authoritarian. I don't think enough options were given. I like a little neutrality now and then.

I'm in the same quadrant as the rest of you guys (go figure), about the same y value as the Dalai Lama and a bit right of him.

I'm mid-left, but literally JUST under the authoritarian/libertarian line.

I think I'm at about the same point as Ghandi. Libertarian-Leftist.

I'm about at Ghandi, too, which worries me. I don't think there should be this many people lining up in this spot. Unless it's a personality trait necessary for dealing with the sucky public...

I actually expected to wind up upper right. But all of my answers to the questions are accurate. Maybe I just spend too much time dwelling on the issues for which I am authoritarian and right-wing. I consider myself an independent, too, partly because I'm in the middle and partly because I dislike two-party systems. I think the USA two-party system has almost eliminated chances of getting work done.

I'm not at all surprised that most people are lining up in this spot. Its not that the test is inaccurate. It removes reactionary positions people take due to fear-mongering and media-bias and tells them how they really fell.

I've heard a few people who voted for Bush say that they thought they were voting in their best financial interests. These are lower-class people...so of course they weren't. If they had taken the time to actually look at the party platforms and think their positions through, they would not have found the Republican agenda in keeping with their values. But they were so scared of terrorists killing them, criminals robbing them, and "illegals" taking their jobs that they voted Republican.

I don't even think Republicans are better at securing America from these threats. But Karl Rove is good at making people believe that they are.

That political compass site is run by the Libertarian Party so it's not surprising ya'll end up as "_____-libertarian" as your results.

                            Those sneaky bastards....

I still agree with my particular results, as they are vaguely similar to those I received back in my university political science class. But perhaps someone else may end up with other results on a different test.

If I have time later, I'll dig around and see if there are some other tests out there so we can all compare.

                              Your political compass
                              Economic Left/Right: -4.12
                              Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.95

I'm Left Libertarian too. I seem to be somewhat closer to Nelson Mandela than the Dalai Lama.
