I fail to see how the fact that they chose their job means anything in this argument. They signed on to come here to get benefits and get paid. It's more than a "Hey, I'm going to go sign up to blow up some douchebag terrorists. Oh look, they are going to pay us too! That's a nice extra." It's not volunteer work.

Its as much volunteer work as any other profession is.

I have not read the thread, so forgive me if this has been said.

In answer to the OP's original question: Who cares? Maybe if we all focused on fixing the problem instead of assigning blame, we could actually get somewhere.

Those who do not learn the lessons of the past are condemned to repeat the mistakes. If you don't figure out who and why it happened, they're going to do it again.

            What Raps said.

Part of any solution is discovering the cause. Once the cause is known, a proper solution can be put forth.

Until that point, all you can ever do is slap bandaids on it, and that's just not feasible. Hell, that sort of thinking is what brings us to situations like this in the first place.

True, but I'm of the course of action of resolve the mess first, then when it's no longer an emergency, then identify the cause and repair it.

Of course, in this case, that second part is a circular argument that will continue until the next mess occurs.
