20 weeks is shorter than five months.

It's about 4 2/3 months with an average of 30 days. Even less when you figure the true average month is just over 30 days.

There's still plenty of people who don't show at that point.

As Greenday mentioned, there are lots of people who don't show at that stage. When a person starts to show varies, and if it's a first pregnancy, that will make it take longer for it to show at all, averaging somewhere in the 20-week range, actually. Also, it's not uncommon to hear about women who continue to menstruate for several cycles after conception, and although rare, some don't get a break at all.

Ah, well going back to the ohio thing, I'm going with how in Sharia situations woman really don't have that many rights and with a law trying to limit at 8 weeks when most people wouldn't be sure if they are pregnant they are basically being told what they can do with their own body

While I'm certainly not a fan of second trimester abortions, the fact is that for some people it can take 20 weeks to get the money and get to a location that provides abortions. They make up a very small portion of abortions (don't have the stats to hand, but the whole 20 week abortions left, right and centre rhetoric is not supported by the data) but are the cornerstone of the anti-abortion movement.

There are also the abortions for birth defects that aren't necessarily diagnosed until the second trimester, at the 20 week ultrasound, including some terminal cases.
