First, let me state that I think the birthers are a bunch of idiots with FAR too much time on their hands, and I do believe that Pres Obama was born in the USA.

That being said, some of the 'proof' being presented in his defense makes me wince...The biggest one being how either the Mayor or Gov of Hawaii was physically present for the birth. While *possible*...I just don't see inviting non-family to a birth, and even among family, 'tis going to be a SMALL list, for me.

you mean the "original" with the footy prints that is in no way considered a legal document? yes the one with the footprints is considered a "memento" or "souvenir" and has no legal value whatsoever. Heck the one for my son like that, they put his footprints on it, my thumbprints and left it blank, I had my mom with her immaculate handwriting fill it out.

The birthers don't seem to realize that the ball's in their court. Obama doesn't HAVE to do a damned thing if he doesn't want to - he has proven with documentation sufficient for the US Courts that he was born in Hawaii, a state of the Union, in 1961, to an American mother, making him an American via two forms of birthright citizenship.

Therefore, it's incumbent upon the BIRTHERS to provide proof that he isn't. Standing and yelling "WHAR BIRF CERTIFCT WHAR" does not provide evidence to bolster their case. They have to come up with something, and it has to be better than what the President came up with. What do they have? His elderly grandmother misspeaking about his birthplace, two ridiculously transparent fakes, and Orly Taitz.

It does feed a bit on racism - not entirely, but there are some elements there. It's blowback from the "We don't really know who this guy is or what he stands for" narrative that his Democratic opposition launched during the primaries. (He did kind of come out of nowhere.) Turning him into an unknown quantity makes him a bit scary for voters.

However, considering how much he was in the news at the time, that whole argument disintegrates. My mother said during the primary season that she didn't feel she knew enough about Obama to really support him. I said, "Mom, the man has written two books, he's on the news every night, he's every magazine's cover story, there are thousands of speeches of his on YouTube, he gets 70 million Google hits, and your local paper hasn't gone a day without publishing a story featuring him since last September. What more could you possibly want to know?"

Hell, I know where his kids go to school.

If he's still an unknown quantity in some way, that's wilful ignorance. At some point, this becomes "LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU."

Birthers seem to be breeding all over the world.

I would be willing to bet that if it was a white man, they wouldn't have a problem. Whereas if it's a woman, black, gay or atheist, every aspect of their life gets picked over. What's next, a DNA test? Should we DNA test all the upcoming presidents to ensure that they're really born to US citizens? Would they like to see a list of all the girls Obama dated in high school to ensure he didn't father a child somewhere along the way?

I wonder what the case would be if the president was Hispanic....

That's the problem. The only ones at the forefront ARE the loudmouthed idiots. The people who are complaining the loudest are offering no alternatives. You don't like Obama's (or the DNP's) policies, fine, you are entitled to your opinion. Can you offer something better? I've been voting since the late 80s and I've yet to see a Republican canditate for President (or Governor, Senator, Representative, etc.) that I can agree with, even on half of the issues. I wouldn't doubt that there are loads of Republicans who are frustrated with their party, too, for this same reason.

In that case, they're just making themselves unelectable. They just seem to be trying to go as far off course as possible in order to make no real point whatsoever, and while it's garnered quite a bit of support from those inclined towards fringe politics, I'm pretty certain that the glamour of the position will slip and their supporters will leave them in droves.

Bush Jr. wormed into Yale due to money and connections, so the school records demand is hypocritical on many levels. Anyone can probably get into the ivy leagues if they have the right connections (I probably could have gotten into either MIT or Harvard even with my crap high school GPA).

Using their "logic", I shouldn't have gotten into and completed college because my HS grades were bad.
