  • Herman Cain sexual harassment scandal

In case you weren't aware, Republican Presidential Candidate Herman Cain has, since the middle of last week, been embroiled in a scandal as a result of his apparently making unwanted sexual comments and advances at several female staffers when he was head of the National Restaurant Association.

Cain initially denied the allegations. Now he admits he did have some interactions with the women but thinks they probably misinterpreted the way he was acting towards them.

More information could be forthcoming, as one of the accusers is trying to get out from under a Non Disclosure Agreement preventing her from talking about the incident.

Even in polls taken AFTER this became widely known, Cain is still neck and neck with Mitt Romney.

I think the guy is an absolute nut. Can't stand him.

His belief of abortion clinics soley existing for the forced abortions for black women in poor areas is idiotic.

There may be some stats out there that someone can prove me wrong, but I felt he was making an ass of himself by spouting something like that off. It'd be the same as me saying Wal-Mart soley exists to showcase America's most poor, unhygenic, mis-mannered white trash. (which we all know is not a blatant lie, but not the truth, either)

Much like Weiner, I think he did himself more damage than good by denying it from the get go. But at this point, the GOP field is so awful that one of them would have drown a puppy in communion wine to have any affect on the polls.

Why would sexual harassment charges hurt Cain in GOP polls? Republicans have proven time and time again that they hate women. Not surprised here.

Well because of all the fuss they made over Clinton, that's why....Oh wait...never mind.

And Bill Clinton loved so many women that he had to spread that love?

Democrats and Republicans hate women to a certain degree.

Herman Cain should have taken a page out of the playbook of Ted Kennedy. The man caused the death of a young woman and still ended up smelling like a rose. It might have kept him out of the White House, but it didn't keep him out of the Senate. And people loved him. (This last paragraph brought to you by sarcasm ... sort of ).

Herman Cain sounds like a jerk anyway. I remember seeing this video where he blamed the unemployed for their problems. Typically conservative rhetoric, but he's just more blunt about it.

On the other hand, I hate that so many people base their opinions on canadates based on alledged scandles.

What I hated was that the woman got severance pay and signed a non-disclosure agreement. And was trying to get it broken so she could talk about it.

Is that even ethical? But what I found interesting was that the lawyer she had kept saying she wanted to talk, wanted to talk, wanted to talk. And then now she's not going to. So, was the lawyer lying, or did they both realize it was more prudent for her to keep the story under wraps?

And don't forget about John Edwards. Even when it was proven he had a love child with another woman, there were media outlets still trying to keep him in the forefront for the presidency.

I loved the one where he said China is trying to develop nuclear weapons. Surely that ship has sailed.

See, I still would have voted for John Edwards, even knowing he'd cheated on his wife. I think it has no effect on his ability to govern. But this is different, since for it to have been harassment (and obviously I don't know the details) I believe it would have to have been repeated, against her wishes.

Having sex with a perfectly willing person behind your wife's back is not good, but doesn't mean that you'd be a bad governor. It might not have been a spur of the moment thing, maybe he didn't like his wife... Whatever, cheating's bad, and he shouldn't have done it, but it doesn't reflect on your ability to be president.

Harassment does, though, because it shows a basic disrespect for people that you're not closely tied to (from what I've gleaned from this case, anyway) and therefore that makes me worry about how he would handle diplomacy.

How many women claimed that Clinton harassed them? Three? Gary Hart's campaign was derailed after the Monkey Business. Clinton became President. I don't know what to think about sh*t like this anymore.
