Pardon my ignorance, but wasn't Reagan a celebrity?

And yes, I will concur with the JFK thing. Quite undeniably the most attractive president we have ever had, unless Obama wins. Obama is also from VERY simple roots. Obama KNOWS what it's like to be poor. He knows how it feels to not be able to afford health care, to not be able to go to college or help your kids go to college. Obama's fricken MOTHER couldn't afford insurance and refused to go to the doctor........does McCain know of anything like that?

I am so sick of the "Obama is a stupid celebrity and not president material" crap. And I am SO SICK of the mud slinging ads against him.

Unfortunately, Wisconsin is buying into this McCain crap and I'm terrifed we'll spend another 4 years with a Republican president whose only interest is special interest.

Hey, hey, now! He has eight homes to maintain! John McCain knows what it's like to struggle! Sorry, cheap shot; I couldn't help it!

It's one thing for a candidate to say he's religious....it's quite another for one that constantly lets religion dictate policy. One can be religious while realizing that it has no place in law

I don't see why the candidate's religious background comes into play during the election time. Holy shit, Romney is Mormon. Big deal. Hell, if there was a candidate that belonged to the Church of Joe Pesci or the First United Church of the Fonz, it wouldn't matter (but it would be really f'n cool, wouldn't it?).

Separation of church and state. If there can't be a national church, then it shouldn't matter what religion a candidate is. Remember, Hitler was a Christian and Abraham Lincoln had no affiliation to any religion.

It shouldn't matter what someone's religious background is, but it does and it has ever since the Evangelical Christians took over the GOP. Now in order to pass muster with them you have to not only have the right beliefs you have to belong to the right church.
