Republicans release 2012 National Platform

Not really a lot to say as it's all things I expected and can be seen in previously released state platforms. Some of the key points are:

- Desire to ban same sex marriage nationally
- Desire to ban abortion nationally
- The belief that displays of the Ten Commandments in Government buildings and student led prayer in schools are just peachy
- Banning Sharia law
- Potentially returning to the gold standard
- Switching to voucher programs like the one in Louisiana for the rest of the country
- Abstinence only Sex Ed across the board
- Limitations on the power of Federal Judges

They only want the government smaller when it comes to regulating commerce and providing support systems for the poor.

If it puts money back into their pockets or regulates the poor into staying poor, then they're all for as much government as they can vote into being.

My friend was watching the Republican National Convention, specially Paul Ryan. Apparently, because he thinks that kids coming out of college have it kind of rough, he's totally on our side and will help the masses instead of the super rich. Now she's going to vote for Romney because of Ryan (Not that it matters because NJ will undoubtedly be a win for Obama). I mean, sure he's a member of the party known for favoring big business and the super wealth and sticking it to everyone else, but I'm sure he'd change all that . She also hates Obama and is super conservative so I doubt she would have voted for anyone else anyway.

I think politicians are all liars and hypocrites for the most part, regardless of their party. So I usually don't comment on politics, but I just had to say when I heard Paul Ryan disparage cradle-to-grave government programs last night, after talking about how Medicare helped his grandmother who had Alzheimer's. Did I mention that he got Social Security survivor benefits after his father died and used them to save for college?! (Citation). I mean, REALLY??!!

From this distant viewpoint, the only reason the Republican candidates would want to look in Fort Knox would be to see what they could get for themselves.

Romney is a better example of that. I mean he basically told the industry that gave him his start up capital to go fuck itself and die. In fact, he indirectly told the company that gave him that opportunity (Chrysler bought American Motors at one point in their history).

The funny part...the Republican Party could give two shits about all the small businesses that are saying, "Tell me I didn't built this". They are more interested in the Bains of the country.
