  • Romney Alienates Half the Country in One Go

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012...?newsfeed=true

There's no twisting the words around on this one. He fully admitted he does not care about people who need help. He admits he doesn't worry about these people and that they are irresponsible/refuse to take care of themselves.

It's just truly impressive how little those in power give a shit about the people.

Mitt Romney honestly infuriates me. I have to say I would be terrified if (and it's a big if, considering most of the country would have to go batshit insane at this point) he ever got elected. Also...food is an entitlement...food? No, jackass. Food is a necessity. Just as those who don't get to have it every day. Oh...right...you probably don't like THOSE people, either. Grrr. Just...Grrr!

I am a firm believer in that if you can work, you should be. But I know of many many people who receive public aid that are working their ass off and still cant make ends meet.

Yes, there are many irresponsible people on public aid. But I think the majority of people would rather work and make it on their own beholden to no one.

The trouble is, though he's looking worse and worse, he has a substantial chance of winning. And there's not much short of his pissing on a flag on camera that will change that at this point.

Now, yes, he seems to be behind in the polls... but not by anywhere near enough to feel safe about. Just the opposite: the more unappealing he becomes, the worse things look if he wins anyway.

        (And sorry about the language.)

Just because a person does not pay income tax does not mean that they are on the public dole. 61% of those 47% do work and do pay payroll taxes. And given that rate is 15%, they pay a larger percentage than Jackass. If anyone is a taker, it is a person that buys companies, bankrupts them and puts their employees on unemployment....

All right, there are 47% who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to healthcare, to food, to housing, to you-name-it," he said.

You mean people believe that they are entitled to live? LOL, who knew?

i think the 47% number he picked isnt people that don't pay tax. it's the pre-polling percentage for who will vote democrat. i heard them talking about it on the radio this morning.

Romney Alienated half the country when he declared his intention to run for Republican Primary. Then again, so did every republican who did.

Apparently, by writing off entirely 47% of the population, he intends to "focus on the people in the middle."

47% is a rather large number, leaving precious little middle left. Especially since there is a significant portion of the other 53% which thinks the programs the 47% are using (tax reduction, Social Security, whatever) are a good idea.

When I went to work this morning it was all over the front pages of the newspapers we sell, I personally never liked the guy but after this I hope he doesn't win, the customer service manager Nina said if he wins she's moving to Canada.

                          I think that Romney's a total dick.

I wouldn't call this necessarily proof that his 'inner thoughts' or something are hatred of poor people. Remember, he's talking at a fundraiser made up largely of people who think those on government assistance are greedy parasites.

I wouldn't say he actually believes it, because that's pretty clearly rally the base talk. He isn't really writing off anyone who doesn't pay income tax. He probably can NOW, but he wasn't at the time.

It's certainly a harmful video, but I think it's dishonest the way people act like these are his 'secret inner thoughts.' He's talking ata fundraiser. That's a campaign event as much as a Town Hall Meeting is. If this were a recording of him talking to Ann Romney or his sons, that'd be different. But this is telling people what they want to hear. Like Obama's "Cling to their guns and religion" comment, it's something that was said to a base.

Like I said, I'm not saying Romney's a good guy. I'm not saying his policies are going to be wonderful. But I think it's disingenuous to say that this is a case of 'True Thoughts' and everything else is not what he REALLY thinks.

Honestly? This sounds like standard Republican rhetoric. And it's exactly why I won't be voting for them.

Seriously I have no idea why anybody but a white middle aged male who is wealthy would now vote Republican. Don't get me wrong, not exactly a fan of Obama..but right now, with all the 'gaffes' made, etc..the Republicans have not JUST burned bridges. They have napalmed the bridge, salted the earth around where the bridge was, nuked it from orbit just to be safe, and then brought in the tanks to bombard it for another year or so. They are taking NO chances they might actually win.
