Republicans out Democrat in 'World of Warcraft' witch hunt
No..really . I think they may have broke my brain. So she plays WoW..so the fark what? I .. just .. wait..what?! Somebody..get a disk recovery program fast..I've got a BSoD here.
Maybe it's because she plays an orc rogue. Probably wouldn't have been an issue if she played a human paladin. For the Alliance!
But really, I've seen the woman's armory. Doesn't look like she's played since early Cata based on her gear and the fact she hasn't been in a single raid. So if they're trying to get her on time spent playing a video game (they did mention the average player plays 21 hours a week), they're way off the mark. Their only other option is the whole "video games are bad, m'kay" stance which is the biggest pile of crap since people claimed there were backwards satanic messages in rock albums.
Honestly, who cares what she does in her spare time so long as it's legal? This sounds like a last ditch effort by a rival who doesn't have a leg to stand on.
According to this article, they are saying they don't like her supposedly trollish behavior in WoW. Besides the use of the C-word, I don't see anything in that chat that's remotely inappropriate.
It's kind of like saying Arnold Schwarzenegger is unfit for office on the basis that he played a killer robot.
Why don't they try using an argument relative to why she wouldn't make a good senator? Wouldn't that be more useful in persuading people not to vote for her?
Violence has resolved more conflicts than anything else. The contrary opinion that violence doesn't solve anything is merely wishful thinking at its worst. - Starship Troopers
Perhaps an attempt to drive those who think* along the lines of Jack Chick to the polls without sounding quite so loony yourself to the rest of your potential voters?
*Does this asterisk really need explanation?
"My in-laws are country people and at night you can hear their distinctive howl."
Besides the use of the C-word, I don't see anything in that chat that's remotely inappropriate.
Particularly when it was used in the context of talking about a play where the audience is encouraged to chant it for a full minute. It was something about taking the power away from the word by becoming comfortable with it, I can't remember exactly since it's been years since I've seen it.
Wow, just when I think the republicans couldn't possibly get any more bat-shit crazy, I see something like this.
--- I want the republicans out of my bedroom, the democrats out of my wallet, and both out of my first and second amendment rights. Whether you are part of the anal-retentive overly politically-correct left, or the bible-thumping bellowing right, get out of the thought control business --- Alan Nathan
You know just because someone is a gamer doesn't mean they live in their parents' basement eating cheetos and drinking mountain dew. Nor does it mean they spend every waking hour playing said game. If you can't come up with a defense based on her record...then whatever.
Pft. In my EVE Online alliance [large group of corporations that have treaties between them, my alliance is VOLT] I can name 10 IT people for some major known corporations, the lead engineer for an Oslo based telcom, a nonAmerican diplomat, a Russian doctor of Medicine, a geordie truck driver, a Danish pig breeder [retired] and a South African who likes to fly ultralights. There are probably a number of politicians along with that motley crew.
Ah, you play Eve Online. That explains your username. :P
I kid, I kid, I love Eve.
The stereotype that people who play MMORPGs must have no lives might have been, for the most part, true in years past, but it's becoming more and more mainstream. People spend time playing them the same way one would spend time with a fantasy sports team or simply watching TV.

LOL, being a bean counter by nature explains why I am *really* good at being an EVE industrialist
Though it is seriously funny - in pretty much any other game I am a balls to the wall very macho PVP player. I was in the top raid guild in Everquest, and in one of the top raid guilds in early WoW until I started working for my last job and didn't have the time any longer to raid. No idea why I don't like to PVP in EVE - though my corp calls me the killer carebear because when pushed I can fight quite effectively for someone who hasn't specialized training into fighting skills. I even have the Chickengeddon and a coercer named Runs Screaming for fleet operations. In 4 months I will be able to fly an avatar.
