True fiscal conservatives were basically over when Goldwater told the Republican party to go to Hell right before he died. He was pretty much the last of them. Fiscally conservative, didn't give a rat's ass about social conservatives. Was pro-choice, thought gays should serve in the military and was for the legalization of medical marijuana.
Bat shit insane religious conservatives started to rise up in the 70s as I recall and were unfortunately embraced by the Republican party as a political tool. Till they got taken over by them. Not learning from their mistakes, they did the same thing with the Tea Party. Embraced them as a political tool and got taken over. Ratcheting up the bat shit insanity level even higher.
Fiscal conservatism hasn't existed in the Republican party in decades now. Now it's just "Fuck you, I got mine. Oh, right, and we need to talk about your vagina."
