  • In light of the LARGE thread on Romney.....

and the seemingly unreasonable statements made by one poster

I present this woman who made very racist remarks on Facebook after the election results were in.

Then goes on to hope Obama is assasinated.

she now has lost her job AND is being alien probed by the Secret Service.
I'm lost without a paddle and I'm headed up sh*t creek.

I got one foot on a banana peel and the other in the Twilight Zone.

Few things are more satisfying to watch than white trash trying to defend itself by yelling "Freedom of Speech!" at the Secret Service. -.-

I'm uncomfortable with firing someone over a stupid remark made off the job. I don't think people should have taken their anger out on Stone Cold Creamery.

I think she definitely deserves to be pilloried on the internet for being a racist. I think the Secret Service will quickly put her in the loony bin file of threats, but it could follow her for the rest of her life. She'll probably never get a security clearance because of the investigation, which could shut her out of a lot of federal and state jobs she might have applied for down the road.

All because idiots like her can't figure out that if you post inflammatory comments on an unmoderated site using your real name, odds are it will come back to bite you in the ass.

I like how the one article mentions how America may or may not have become more racist since Obama was elected. America has not become more racist. The racists have just decided to show their true colors

                Yeah, that.

I'm reminded of a girl who posted on Tumblr something fairly racist about this black family that came to her job (she worked as a waitress). Should she have made it about their race? No, there are asshole customers everywhere in every race, ethnicity, what have you.

However, it was really fucked up that people spread all of her personal information all over Tumblr and got her fired.

In this case, however? She got the Secret Service investigating her. She was stupid as all hell. Nope, that one's deserved.

If you're goig to make remarks like that, make sure there is nothing identifiable or that connects you to your professional life involved.

Gravekeeper put it much more eloquently than I could (he's good at that), but adding to what Nyoibo said, on or off the clock, the moment you associate yourself with the company you work for, you whether or not you like it, become something of a spokesperson for them. Right or wrong, as an employee of that company, when you say something at the same time that you have allowed yourself to be associated with your company, people are going to associate what you've said with that company. I don't blame corporations for having clauses that say you can be fired for off the clock activities, because their employees are what most people base their image of the company off of (who here shops at one store over another because they are known to have friendly staff, or uses one company over another because their staff is known to regularly volunteer in the community, etc).

While I don't agree with her opinion, this again shows you can have any opinion you want just as long as it's PC.
The woman was stupid for several reasons:
1: Sharing too much about her personal life online.
2: While she didn't make a direct threat it was veiled at best.
3: She forgot that while having such an opinion you can't express it because the PC crowd will hound you to your death and then dig you up, hang you, behead you and then burn you to ashes only after having first pissed on your grave.
4: Such statement are only appropriate when directed toward former President Bush.

Iirc, there were people investigated for making similar such statements. However, it seems to me that these type of statements have increased significantly over the past several year, even from people who should know better.

I thought you'd sunk as low as was possible, but here you are again. Since this seems to be flying over an alarming number of heads down there, let me spell it out:

Free Speech is a right to say what you want. Not a right to say what you want without consequence. Just someone has the right to be a racist asshole, everyone else has the right to hold them accountable for being a racist asshole. It has nothing to do with political correctness. The fact you think political correctness is what's holding you back from using the N word in public without consequence is rather telling.

The "It's okay because I saw the other side do it once" argument didn't work in the other thread and won't work here. Grow up or go slither back under your rock. You've made your true colours rather apparent around here as of late.

And I thought you couldn't get any more self-righteous and yet you fooled me again bless your heart. If you had read, I said I didn't agree with her. I believe she does need to be called out for having been stupid enough to publish something like that but on face-page or whatever she used. She shouldn't have been hounded to her job that she lost. While I disagree with you I wouldn't even think of calling your boss and complaining about your opinions as that's your business and not his (at least in my opinion) but I don't think I could expect the same in return as you seem to be very emotional. I don't think you called her job to talk to boss mostly because I think you lack the courage to do so but also I think you can separate private and public.

Another thing I don't use the n word never have and never will. I think it's a hurtful word and I dislike it's use by everyone including black folks. If you're equating the n-word with negro then that shows your ignorance. You seem to have a very high opinion of your intelligence perhaps you need to educate yourself or perhaps try some deep thinking (don't forget to stretch first, you wouldn't want to cramp up) or are you one of those people that were educated way beyond their intelligence? I'll freely admit I'm ignorant about many things, where my opinion of you is AFKIA and it's all based upon what you write.

My true colors, you don't have a clue to my true colors (I would have added a "little boy" or "little girl" to belittle you but I don't know your gender.) One of my attributes is that I'm a proud ASSHOLE. Grow up or slither??? Are those my only choices??? Guess I'll slither and make room for you as I doubt you're capable of the other.

Should you want to take this private I'm all for it as I don't want to upset Raps. I see him as a host and I wouldn't want such an argument taking place in front of my other guests. Believe it or not I'm a big believer in the Golden Rule.

OK people, this thread is getting way too heated. Differences of opinions are fine, but sto with the personal attacks, or this thread will be shut down and infractions will be issued.
