  • Getting all the facts

So last election I didn't really get all the info and was very uninformed in my voting. I want this year to be different, but so far I've been bad at watching the stuff on tv and catching all of that. The problem with just going to the canidates' websites is that I don't know how reliable those are going to be towards an edjucated vote.

What's a good way to find out information about the different canidates and what they are saying they stand for or believe in? I've never done this before, so while for some it may be easy to find out the information, I have no clue where to start. I'm not asking for people to tell me who to vote for though bringing up pros and cons that I can research as well as other things would be ok.

Well, since both of these guys this time around are senators, you can go to Congress' page and check out their voting records for a start to get a feel for them.

There's also a lot of pretty even handed sites out there that present each candidates' views on an assortment of topics.

    and many more like those.
I always think of those as a good place to start. I don't take the paper and I don't watch tv, so I have to rely on the internetz to get my info.

I read a lot of newspapers and news magazines, because they tend to give you a wide variety of information, about politics or otherwise. It's hard to make an informed choice about a candidate's economic policies if you know nothing about economics, for example.

Read a variety of these sources, because the majority of newspapers have either a "left" or "right" slant. It's not a big deal if you keep a critical eye and balance your news diet.
